Hi just wondering if anyone could give information/tips on how to start out as MUA? I've researched and courses seem to be really expensive! It's also hard to select which school is best. I currently work full time so it's also difficult to find time but makeup is my passion. Although I have no previous experience I would be grateful for any advice :) xx

Hello Emma! I'm in a similar boat at the moment too. We're you planning on freelancing? Also you don't need qualifications but it might come in handy where insurance is concerned, but if you had your heart set on qualifications then The London College of Fashion is one of the best places which I've looked at, also if you can get hold of MAC Pro membership they offer trainings which you could use to help get your feet off the ground! ModelMayhem is a good tool to use to find makeup artists in your area which you could 'shadow' (attend shoots/jobs with them to find out more about how the industry works) also PRACTISE! Practise on ANYONE you can get your hands on, most people like to be pampered so it's often not that difficult to find a 'victim' & I'd never turn down having my makeup done for free :p I hope this helps & if I think of anything else I will edit. GOOD LUCK :)

Thanks for your help :) just any sort of training really for an insight. I will take a look at that website you mentioned. I do really have my heart set on a course but it's trying to find a local school etc. Hopefully this site will give me the right info xx

Ooh also visit Specktra Forums. Check out the 'Industry Discussion' sub-forum, so good!!!
