LOL Lou you've made me smile with that last comment about stupidity coz we've all been there, some of us many times . I think it was over enthusiasm not stupidity hun, if you did it again that would be stupid and i bet you dont. XX. I've also noticed you've mentioned tip cutting a few times, were you being taught to blend a full well tip at college.

Hi hun,

Yes we were shown how to blend a tip and I felt very confident doing that until I did this to myself, lol.

TBH, it has knocked my confidence and I haven't put a set of tips on now for over 3 weeks. :o

have you got the tip cutting sorted out or found some no blend ones to get your confidence back x

I have got some no Well tips, but i'm too scared to put those on too, lol. I've been told that you still have to blend those a little bit too, lol.

Awww you poor thing , I feel for you as before I studied in nail enhancements I did this its soo painful. Rose oil for young nails is the best ever to use I have done tests on my clients and it works perfectly.

p.s. are you going to Beauty Uk on sunday?

Hi Kas,

hi Lou you can blend before you place them on the nail just to thin them slightly.hold your file at a 30% angle the longer length of the file towards the free edge of the tip and just buff them down a bit if this doesn't make sence let me know and think of something x

I have really thin nail plates atm, i have been very bold and have been putting on and taking off extensions alot this past two weeks. Get bored sooooo easily. I have also lost part of the natural nail plate due to an accident with a nail extension... let me tell you i knew all about it at the time... the PAIN!!!

I have bought OPI nail envy and will be putting it on for the next couple of months. Its supposed to be excellent for badly damaged nail plates.. Hopefully so! No nail extensions now for a few weeks ateast to give my poor nails a break...lol

So i no how u feel pet, not that this will help your poor nails. xo :D

Sorry, I can't visualise it. Maths was never my strong point and don't know what 30 degree angle would look like either, lol :o

I think the one nail (my ring finger) i'm going to end up losing completely. It looks awful today and has now got a split down it. I've been such a stupid cow, it's unreal! :(

You shud try the OPI ENVY c if it works for you too! xo

Sorry guys, but the only thing that is going to work, as youput it, is time off for the nails to grow out. You are not going to put the damage right with a nail strengthener and the best in the world cuticle oil SOLAR OIL from CND,it although it will help the nail to reattach will not add strength to the damaged plates (just flexibility).

As LOU LOU has said again and again it is she who caused the problem and she has taken responsibility for it. Those of you who are continually ON OFF ON OFF with prodeucts will suffer the same fate so take note of the advice. WEar your nails and learn how to properly rebalance them rahter than changing sets all the time ... absolutley silly thing to do.

10 out of 10 students never learn how to rebalance properly because they never do it and instead waste their time on the stupid stuff. Time to get real ... keeping your clients nails perfect is what will bring them back to you time and again .... changing the colour or style or gobbing up their nails with glitter or 3D flowers will NOT. Best thing is to practice and learn on yourself and get to grips with your craft!!

And exactly how does rose oil work to make thin nails thick and strong again??? What Nonsense.

Nails have to GROW to become thick and strong again and that takes TIME. The only thing in the world that will strengthen damaged nail plates is an OVERLAY of some kind.

I'll tell you what would be PERFECT to hide the damage while they are growing out and repairing themselves and to give the nails both strength and flexibility is SHELLAC from CND.

I never blend my performance tips hun, I personally think they are so thin you don't need to :D. I have some lovely dents in my nails from doing an infills on my wrong hand, had been using gel for so long then decided I wanted L&P nudes on what a mess I made! Cannot wait for shellac, as I hate infilling rebalancing my own nails xx

Thanks Geeg, i'm going to overlay my two damaged nails today to hide it. Just one question though ...... when i put the overlay on, usually you would finish it off with a sanding block, would you still advise me to do this? Also, could I put two layers of silk on? If so, would I put the first layer of silk on and then resin and activate the usual three times and then put the next coat of silk on and then resin and activate that coat of silk three times too?

Do whatever is your normal routine EXCEPT do not use any kind of abrasive on your natural nail surface ... Only your sanitiser and dehydrator and then apply as you always do.
