I have been practising with nail foils which i think are fab, i an get them on now but they dont seem to ast two days (even on toes) :irked:. Can anyone reccoment a good nail foil sealer that actually gets them to stay on?

Also can i seal them with a UV gel topcoat or would this not work?

I sealed mine with clear gel....not had problem yet.

sealing them with a gel topcoat will certainly make them last longest we sell a good sealer that works well but they never have much staying power unless this is reapplied at least every other day hope this helps adell x

can i just butt in here and ask (ive never used foils before)

Can i put them on a gel base and under a gel top coat?

yes u can , instead of using the adhesive you can put them on the sticky layer of you gel instead of wiping it away and then seal with a gel top coat
adell

I did do a ring finger with bits of Quality Street sweet foil but it is a bit thick.

I bought pots of silver & gold leaf at the show last year & it looks great, so easy to work with as it is soooooo thin.

It can go on the wet gel or on the inhibition layer but I find it breaks up more on wet gel & stays put better when it is just sticky.( a little pat helps to keep it nice & flat.)
Oh, I always seal with clear gel.

Fantastic :) thanks cant wait to try them for the first time :D

Do you have to remove the shine off the foil before applying the gel topcoat or it won't stick?
Thanks x

Unwrap Roses chocolate & hover the wrapper over heat, when the plastic starts to melt away from the foil you can peel the very thin foil away.
Much thinner then Quality Street wrappers.

Still working my way through my other boxes of chocs......

My nail foils arrived and i did my gel layer of Nsi balance and didnt remove the sticky layer and pressed on my foil.....nothing came off :(

Was really excited about being able to use these in gel :/

They look really expensive don't they & it's so easy.....yipeee.

this is strange did the foils work with the adhesive?

I didnt use the adhesive as someone said above just use gel.

And im not sure i can use anything other than gel with gel. I wanted a long lasting result you see so when i heard you can do it with gel i bought a load and cant use them :/

They will only 'release' with a foil adhesive (once it has turned clear from milky) as far as I know.

Wipe off the dispersion layer, apply the adhesive where you want the foil, wait for it to go clear and apply the foil. Gently apply the gel top coat so as not to disturb the foil

Miss Sylk- Just read your post again & have just seen the sad face.

I thought you meant it stuck & nothing came away once stuck. Think I might of misread this?
I put layer of gel down, don't wipe, lay foil leaf over in pieces back in the lamp & then encase with another layer of gel.

Hi
i think Miss Sylk may be talking about the foils that you press on after adhesive, then your supposed to pull the plastic layer off the top.
You know the ones that come on a roll?

If it is these then i'd wipe tacky layer then use adhesive, peel back backing and top layer of gel, be sure to cap nail.
i have lots of these but never used them, i must have a go at them:)

Thanks for that Tantrum, shows how things can get a bit confusing on here.:):):

Yep that is correct tantrum, i think the person who originally started this thread meant those foils as well.

Didnt use adhesive as it was suggested i use my gel tacky layer instead of adhesive. I guess i gota apply adhesive, ill buy one.

Just curious how you got it too work without adhesive Nail delights? x

I use clear gel too.

What might be the problem, however, is that you're not using proper nail foil.

I once tried to use beautiful sparkly wrapping paper as a super cheap alternative!! it did-not-work!!!!
