Hiya all me again.
i have recently bought some nail art foils and for the life of me i dont know what to do with them lol (bit silly buying them really ) im dying to try them but i just dont know where to start. i would really appreciate it if any one could help me. many thanks xxx:rolleyes:

If it come with a starter kit you should have some wrap adhesive and wrap sealer or something similar depending on companys instructors. Apply wrap adhesive on to the nail. I usually do four nails the adhesive is usually irredescent when it has gone clear then apply the foil pull it tight when applying on to the nail use cotton bud run it down the middle and then side to side of the nail keep rubbing until transfered onto the nail the foil will start lifting when its due to come off you might have to rip off like aplaster. If you want it on whole nail. Or if you have painted the nails do the above steps but only on the section of the nail what you want to do. Then when finished all ten nails apply wrap sealer or companys make! Using normal top coat usually makes it look like crazy paving (I call It) cracks.
Hope this has helped chick

the foils i used to use were placed onto the nail 'pattern up' so that the backing went onto the nail.
unsure if they're all the same.

If these are 'transfer foils', here's my method that I wrote up for a friend:

* Buff the nail with a white square buffing block to remove shine from the
nail - this applies to both a natural nail and to an artificial nail. (If
applying over a polish, then be sure the polish is completely dry and do the
same thing)
* "Dust' the nail to remove particles (a clean, never used blush brush or
similar will do)
* Saturate a makeup remover pad/cotton ball/lint free wipe with dehydrator
which could be Acetone nail polish remover or dehydrator or 95-99% alcohol.
(NOT the non-acetone kind.. but PURE acetone)
* Apply the Transfer foil adhesive, making sure to cover the area but not
too much either, an even layer that is not gloppy.
* Let it dry COMPLETELY. This is the tricky part.. if it's too dry, or too
wet, it wont work. I find the best way is to have a lamp handy. Put your
hand under the lamp and watch the adhesive change from bluish in color to
transparent. As soon as it's transparent, immediately place the foil where
you want it. Should take about 2min give or take.
* You need to firmly 'smooth' the foil onto the nail, pressing it into the
adhesive. Rubbing in a sense. Go only in one direction, do not 'massage' it
onto the nail. Apply firm strokes in the same direction. You will see that
it starts to stick to the nail and that a clear backing separates.
* Once it is all smoothed down, then remove the clear backing.
* Seal it with either Acrylic or UV Gel or 2 coats of sealer or clear
polish, making sure to cap the end of the nail with either the product or
the polish.

I hope that this helps

Hello,

This is my very first ever reply, so if a person can be nervous at the very first go, it's me! (I haven't even worked out yet how to do a picture...I quite fancied a butterfly)
I've been using nail foils on and off for quite some time and (sad to admit it) got them from QVC! (Special FX) but they are great and I have nearly forty of 'em (though I'd never admit that to my friends, who wouldn't have a clue what a nail foil was anyway)...I find that the nail does need to be quite buffed...if it's got any furrows on it, they don't work as well. Put the adhesive on THINLY, wait for it to go clear, this only takes a couple of minutes. Then put on the foil (lacey ones are really good) and press down (I use my finger) and take the foil off. You don't need to rip it off, or take it off slowly, just normally. If you miss any bits, just re apply and it should fill it in. I find half a nail, perhaps diagonally looks good. You do have to reapply a top coat every other day as they do wear quite quickly (I find anyway). Hope this helps!

i love the stuff but it is getting harder and harder to find

You can find a WIDE variety of transfer foils at my ebay dist, who also has a reg site: http://rhinestonesandcrafts.com/foil.htm

Happy shopping.:green:

hello;
i recieved my nail foils today (i bought them of e-bay) im chuffed to bits with them,BUT..............i dont know how to use them either!!!!
but after following this thread i had an "ok" go before ,i would post pics but the batteries on my digicam only last a little while and they always seem to run out when i really want to take a picture of something:rolleyes:
im gunna have another go in a minute as i was putting too much adhesive on i think ,and being the impatient little madam that i am i didnt wait long enough either ,oh hahah and i was peeling the backing off really slowly too so ill have a go now following these instructions and let you know in a minute xxx,
just for the record i put a black and gold pattern over the tip of my natural tips and followed along the smile line with gold nail art dots, only on my middle finger, and it looked lovely :)

wooohhhoooo......i love you guys hahahah it worked and they look fab!!!! i thought it might be a fluke when the first one worked so i did four fingers different patterns and designs, the only one that didnt work too well is a plain silver foil, that looks a bit rubbish, but all the others look great,i cant wait to show these to my clients, mind you saying that, they all want "naural look" anyway,so ill show them to all of you tomorrow instead, when i get some batteries for me camera lol! thankyou xxxx

whooooooooohooooooooooooooooooo

Way to go girl:!: :green:

Aren't they fun? I haven't used mine in ages. I really need to play with them again. Can d so much with them.

Can't wait to see pics:!:

A couple of sprays of Medea brand airbrush varnish will nicely preserve the finish with no crackling.
