Hi looking for a wee bit of advice. I have been looking at online courses and am interested in one called
Nail Technician Online Diploma - CPD Certified & IVCAS Accredited on the reed.co.uk website. What do these accreditations mean, if anything? Its a Black Friday offer. says the course is usually £299 but they are selling it for £39 today! I am working from home at the minute and so far only have a gel polish diploma. Any comments/advice would be much appreciated.

I personally have not heard of IVCAS but as with most things I go with the saying "if it sounds too good to be true it usually is". I may be wrong, but this sounds the same. I'm not sure how any decent nail course online or otherwise would be able to offer a recognised qualification at such a low price. I'd say you're better putting that money in a pot to save for courses from brands you're interested in or from well known and well reviewed companies, who'll probably offer day courses from around the £100 mark. It might only be £39 if it's not all that, but I can buy some decent nail stuff with £39!! Good luck :) x

Training that's under 40 quid sounds like a terrible idea. I wouldn't recommend online courses at all. Save your £39 and put it towards some higher quality training. You won't regret it! xxx

I don't know what IVCAS stands for but CPD stands for continuous professional development.
CPD is just refresher or updating your training so not a qualification in itself.
If you are a lecturer or assessor for an exam board you are expected to do 30 hours of CPD per year to keep up to date with industry developments.

Sounds like you are looking more for a level 3 nail tech course that covers extensions, acrylics etc.
Try your local college or a reputable brand such as cnd for example
