CND has unveiled a unique design for the Michael van der Ham Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection. CND Co-founder Jan Arnold created two oxidized nail styles in partnership with van der Ham to complement the looks presented at Somerset House, BFC Courtyard Show Space and yours truly was there to witness CND set the nail trends.
Jan Arnold is a pioneer in the nail and fashion industries, leading CND and its team of highly skilled Nail Professionals to integrate nail artistry into Cynthia Rowleys runway show in 1996. Since then, highly artistic, awesomely intricate, trend-setting manicures have been a staple at New York Fashion Week and around the world. CND collaborated with select designers this season, including van der Ham, to craft nails that extend and interpret each look as the fashion designer had envisioned with their first sketch.
We could not have imagined a more fitting collaboration for CND in London as Michael was completely tuned into our creative process, said Jan Arnold. His use of colors, patterns and textures perfectly suited one of our Fall trends focused on sharply defined patterns with a dark, dramatic feel. The nails did indeed complement van der Ham's aesthetic as they sat beautifully next to his jacquard prints and intricate metallic design detail.
For this seasons collection with van de Ham, Lead CND Education Ambassador Amanda Fontanarrosa created a distressed manicure resembling tortured, tarnished metal on a sleek chisel-edge almond shape. For one of the nail designs, we used CND color in Fedora adorned with a gold and copper leaf pattern, said Fontanarrosa. The second look incorporated CND in Midnight Swim and Cityscape with silver leaf patches. Both designs were modern and youthful.
CND is the industry expert, said Michael van der Ham. The nails they designed perfectly reflect the feminine shapes, metallic embellishments and tough, textured fabrics in the collection.
For more than 15 years, CND has crafted nail looks for top designers and defined global nail trends with innovative ideas and techniques. During Fall/Winter 2013 Fashion Week in New York, CND collaborated with Alexander Wang and developed distinctive nail looks for the Creatures of The Wind and The Blonds. CNDs collaboration with Michael van der Ham in London marks CNDs continued commitment to advancing the nail care industry in its 65 international markets and beyond.
We are nails, fashion, and beauty, just as our new tagline reads, Arnold continued. It was exciting to work with such a unique talent and we look forward to how his customer and ours interpret this look for themselveswhether they adopt the unique texture, color palette, length or shape, they will be on trend for Fall 2013!
Until then...geek on!
