Does anyone else dislike the term 'Nail Technician'? I'd rather be called a 'Nail Artist' or a 'Nail Stylist'.

Do they call it something else in other countries?

Do you have any other suggestions?

You can call me what you like as long as its not before 6.00am....lol

sorry ...

I am happy with nail technician...xxx

Montague or Capulet, what's in a name!!

I agree Kimmi, I've actually started calling myself a Nail Artist on my price lists as I perform an art! I'll leave all the technical bits to the errm ... technicians!

Mind, just looked Technician up in the dictionary " somebody who has acquired the technique of an area of specialisation eg an art", and having seen some of the dreadful work out there on the hands at large, I think some people are using the word technician in the very loosest sense of the word!

I think Nail specialist sounds good lol
But I just put that I'm a nail tech why? Because thats what I am lmao

LMAO, just seen your term Nail Stylist - reminds me of hair stylist and I have visions of nails in rollers having a perm .... sorry I've got to stop snorting the acetone, think I have lost it completely!

I like Nail Artist the best so far. Any more for any more?

I know the Japanese are known as "Nailists" which is kinda cool......

CB LMFAO, I think you're swigging that monomer with ice!

Heh Heh Heh!!!

I thought it was rather catchy....

My salon would be called Pimp My Nails

Really classy dontcha think???

Well it's different I'll grant you that!!! No one will EVER forget you salon that's for sure!

:) i often use the term Nail Therapist

Nail therapist - that's fab! Mine have been in rehab for a while and are still drying out!! ... I'm sorry I dont know what is wrong with me tonight, I've just lost it and being very silly, just off to change my mood thing to "behaving like a complete dork and so should be on Big Brother"!

Actually I really do think Nail therapist is a fab name as it conjures up an image of someone who is fully committed to the health of the nail, and how to improve it - I LIKE IT (and please excuse my prattling before!)

On a serious note....

I think our role covers all of theses names:

Nail Technician - technical ability, product knowledge etc
Nail Artist - Nail Art, cosmetically appealing etc
Nail Therapist - Nuturing the natural nail etc
Nail Stylist - Styling the nails to flatter the hands and client etc

I think the term Nail Geek sums us all up really............

for me, i like the term nail technician, i think it implies that you have technical knowledge. i do think i could call myself a nail artist, but i think the general public might take it as being purely applying colours and designs. i'm happy with technician. :)

As long as no one refers to me as a 'techie' which I LOATH and detest. It ranks along with the coolio and fabio talk I sometimes see and to me just degrades what we do an makes it seem frankly ... silly. This is my personal opinion and I know many will think |I'm being far too serious but it is the way I feel.

I call myself a nail artisan!! I love that.

I am proud to be called a nail technician, I dont think I would want to be called a techie though, sounds like something off of star trek to me.

but I dont have a prob with those that say Coolio, fabio etc, Its just young girls having a laugh, not meant to be silly, just fun.

I'm a Nail Technician :D

I'm not a Therapist - therapy for nails just doesn't sound right to me, perhaps it's because 'therapy' implies mental/emotional problems to me

I'm not an Artisan - I'm not artistic at all, we all know my pathetic attempts at nail art

I'm not a Stylist - that implies I know/have style and I don't

But technical - that's my baby!

Trin
xx

I love being a Creative Nail Technician - hopefully one day I will make the grade of Creative Master Technician.
