Hi all,
Ive got a client who's been dying her own hair a range of colours (dont u just love those ones!)

She's currently black all over, with a big section of pink at the front, which she has bleached before applying the pink.

The black is a dye she put on around 6 weeks ago....she now wants to go purple and has chosen a colour with a base of 5....how the hell am I gonna do this??

I trained to level 2 so we didn't cover this at college, and ive only be doin hair mobile so I don't come across this difficult type of colouring very often.
I want to give her an even looking colour all over but don't know how im going to achieve this with so many colours in her hair!!

Any advice would be really appreciated, if i dont do it, she will only go out and buy a box colour and stick it on herself and who knows what that would turn out like

please help!!

Tint doesn't lift tint!! You need to get a colour remover...search blondi Rae you will find all you need to know. But most importantly if you don't feel comfortable don't do it!! Cause you will struggle with work like this if your trying to learn and never done this before.

Thanks for replying, I was thinking about a colour remover, I'll have a think on it and do some more research, but definitely if i don't feel competent in doing it I won't

Importantly I feel for us mobiles, charge for time and products! I tend to shy away from colour corrections as I know it could take most of my working day, lots of products and my time. With no clients to fill in the gaps you have to charge accordingly, plus have extra product to hand, for those just in case moments!

I know...exactly!! I think im gonna have to strip it and have a back up dark brown incase it goes like a rainbow
Im sure she would much rather have a dark brown all over than an array of colours trying to achieve purple.....jeez the stress of it!!

With stripping aswell you'll need to use a colour 1-2 shades lighter than your target preferably a quasi. Are you still training at the moment? Also your statement of her putting a colour on herself and god knows what will happen... Most likely purple root glow and no change to the rest of it which I would tell my client so they are less likely to try it theirselves hope that helps a bit

sorry if im mistaken, but i was under the impression with a colour reducer, you shouldn't use a quasi afterwards as it would come out reaaally dark, not just a shade or 2 darker...i know with the affinage erasor they say not to use a quasi afterwards...maybe the other brands are different?

Hi Hun,
No im not still training, but we didn't cover this type of colour correction when I trained, that was level 3 stuff and I only trained to level 2. I read about choosing a lighter shade, so ill give it a try, unfortunately she is the type of person who will just bleach her hair all over and put the purple on herself if i tell her im not going to do it, and Im cutting it anyway. The first thing she tends to do is put a pic on Facebook and thank me for it, and if she does it herself I certainly don't want my name to it lol
I'll have a back up colour to match her natural colour so If i dont think it's going to take like she wants she will just have to have a nice choc brown. Thanks for the advice x

Thanks everyone for ur advice.....Im going to do a test piece and see how it turns out as I know her hair is quite damaged so if it breaks it then i can show her and pursuade her to leave well alone for a while ;)

just got the instructions for everyone. Your right a semi is no go. Last page quasi is ideal http://www.affinage.com/us/links/IHC_Eraser.pdf

Another quick look and that was under the title of prepigging. But it is still safe to use. I've never found it too grab more than usual. But I've always used 2 shades lighter. For a fail safe copy the instructions :)

The last page isn't related to the erasor....

The section, in which it say, a quasi is ideal, is the pre pigmentation one, not colouring after using the erasor... i'm 99.9% sure you should never use a quasi after using the erasor, and i'm not sure about using 3% with permanant either

Just looked at the uk site which gives much clearer answers stating that 2.8% (assuming that's their brands quasi developer) will give a darker result

Hi perry, I always use a quasi after colour reducing, 1-2 shades lighter then target, never had a problem :) x
