Hi
I'm in the process of taking over a business and wondered if anyone had experience taking over an existing lease?
The current salon owner has 4 years on her lease and when I mentioned about getting the lease extended the company selling her business to me said Her lease is covered by a Landlord and tenant act 1986 which means they have to offer me a new lease once the 4 years is up. They said it's better to take over her lease as if I ask for longer the landlord could up the rent.
However After speaking to a solicitor they said there could be issues still with short leases and to look into getting it renewed at the current rates.
Has anyone experienced this before? What did you do? Any advice would be great.
