Hi everyone,i usally tint then wash off and highlight because i am so nervous about putting colour inbetween.so here goes u do ur highlights then touch up the root area with your base colour:Scared: which im scared will leak on bleach, then put in between foils and flood colour through, sounds simple but also sounds complicating with leakeage everywhere and your foils done before tint :Scared:REASURANCE AND GUIDANCE NEEDED.

Be positive huni and ull be fine make sure your foils are tight neat and tidy and ull have no problem i normally blend the colour im using into the foil ever so slightly at the root that way no leakage xx

 thank you.

Just finished one ! its fiddly ! JUst take your time with the tint and make sure all the root area is covered. Are you using bleach or tint in the foils ? If its bleach then just keep an eye as you normally would and if you feel one or two are done before the tint has developed just open the fiol up and use damp kitchen roll to wipe the bleach of and leave the packet open. make sure the tinted hair is to the side of the open packet so you dont stain it. You can use the teeth of your comb to close the top of the foil so you can tint right up to that crease, if that makes sense ???

I hate applying tint around foils-need 3 hands but tbh i think practice makes it easier xx

You could try using cotton wool between foils this will help with colour bleeding, until you get use to it.

i apply root colour while applying foils, working methodically as i go. . . then i dont disturb the foil. . . u jus need to be quick while ur working to keep an even development time. . that way the foils arent moved again once they have been folded. . .

On quite alot of my clients I put my root colour on first, then foil, then comb the colour through. Although sometimes I do foil then apply the tint, I find the first way so much easier. X

Can i ask a quick question??
If the client has more than 50% white hair and she would like tint and foils can i use this technique? Or would i have to apply the colour first and then foil??
Sorry for the basic question im still a beginner!!:D

You can still do it but you have to make 100% sure that ure working the tint into the roots really well with 50% grey i generally would do tint first then highlights this again is at ure discretion depending if its highlift tint for highlights or bleach because rmber tint doesnt lift tint xx

I root touch up and foil the same as scottydolly! its quick, easy and u work right at the root! I dont know y anyone would tint, wash off, dry then foil! what a palava not to mention over processing, hi/liting over tint!

Thinking I will try this way on my next client. So do you weave foil, apply colour , fold foil then apply root colour ?

yep, or put base col in foil aswell, back to back foiling! x
