Hi, I am looking for advice on adhesion, tips and glue. I ordered the CND because of all the referrals on this site and it was through Amazon. The shipping was as much as the four adhesions!?! Is there another place I can order them through? Now tips, which ones are the best in your opinion? I got these cheap ones for practice but when I am up and running ( Four months from now) I want to give my clients the best product out there. I am also having issues with adhesion to the nail plate. I am getting lifting after two days even using dehydrator/primer and buffing the nail. I have a Gelish Harmony 18W UV/LED lamp and I am using their "Hard" products. I also need some good files and brushes advice. SO much lol but I really appreciate and respect your opinions.

Hello , have you had any professional training CindyAnn?

Hi there, love your enthusiasm!
I see you are in Canada so I am unsure what the regulations are there regarding training and being licenced.
Have you done any training in nail enhancements, as there is no substitute for good training.

I live on a very small island. There is no training available here at all. I love doing this and have a strong passion for it. There is a need for this type of service where I live and I want to make sure I follow every guideline and rules regarding doing this for a living. I am reading everything I can get my hands on starting at the most basic regarding nail structure, nail diseases, sterilization and application. I would love to have formal training and agree it is invaluable, I just do not have access to that so I am looking to professionals to guide me and do the best job I can.

Hi there, unfortunately we are not able to give advice to non professionals. Another thing to consider is that you need to be qualified to be carrying out treatments on clients and therefore to hold insurance.

Is it not possible to travel to the mainland for training? The nail products you are using have such a variety of chemicals in which you should be qualified to use x

I am very aware of ALL the requirements for training. I have all the manuals that I am required which includes the chemicals chapter. I am not walking into this blindly. I am also going to talk to my insurance company. I have read and studied all the nail diseases and sterilization processes and would never risk injuring anyone at any cost. I thought I could come on this site and ask to make sure I am not leaving anything out. I am now realizing that this site is basically for people who assume if they took a course, that people like me are despicable. That is a sad statement. While I do understand and appreciate your words, back not too long ago it was a three day course to become a nail tech. I am putting an honest four months into my training and studies but cannot go take a course. I am very disappointed that you all clump people together. I am not doing this on a whim, this is very thought out and carefully planned. Ty for your time.

No one called you despicable, no one is clumping you into any sort of group it's simply a site rule to not be allowed to give information to people without professional qualifications. Find out for definite if you can get insurance. It would be awful for you if you put loads of effort into learning and couldn't do anything at the end of it.

There's nothing wrong with you asking the questions, you seem bright and enthusiastic and willing which is the main thing. People here take their careers very seriously as you do, most of us have spent hundreds maybe thousands in training alone that's why we cannot and will not share our hard earned knowledge with the untrained. Nothing personal to you. No judgements.

What I will say is it sounds like your using a mish mash of products and mixing systems which may be why your getting lifting or poor performance of your products. Most of us stick with one system I.e if CND. We use their lamps, their primers, monomers etc as this guarantees the best possible from the service!

Also CND sold on amazon may well be fake so be careful. Personally I doubt you will get insurance if your not qualified... That would be like granting a driving licence to those who hadn't ever taken driving test! Far to risky for insurers!

Also you do need Excellent training to become an excellent nail tech, never mind the 2-3 days courses most of us spend years and years training in various different aspects in our field- progressing and developing. we travel to train also. It's not a cheap career we have all chosen.

If there's no one on the island offering the services you would like to then perfect! You have a great USP why not look to further afield and get properly trained, it would be worth it think of all the clients you could confidently service!! You would be leagues above the rest.

Xxx

Essential nails do a home learning course is that something you could do? Xx

Woah! I haven't called you despicable or thought of you in a certain way at all so please don't insinuate that I have.

It's a site rule that we cannot give advice to non pros as I originally pointed out. I think I was perfectly nice in my response and think your reply was a bit uncalled for. I understand what you're saying and it seems like you are learning as much as you can off your own back, which is great and you clearly want to do this, but to be completely professional, you need to be formally trained and qualified. That's not a personal dig towards you, that's just the way it is.
