Just qualified last week, well pleased to find this site. Anyway, just thought I'd say 'Hellooooo' to everyone - as I'll no doubt be on here a lot over the next few months! So there you have it - total rookie. Any tips and advice wud b cool.

Erm, did it a bit of a cheats way really. Did a Diploma with E-Nails in Manchester - a two day course. Was quite good but only taught us the UV Acrylic System. Haven't got a clue about any other systems n really need to av a bash at 'em all. Going buying some more stuff from Sally's Wholesale next week. Bought a starter kit which is okay and done four manicures and three sets of acrylics so far. Only passed last Friday. What do you use? Any products you would say to avoid?? Please don't say Enails and UV Acrylics!!! pmsl

Hi Claire,
welcome to the site, you will find a lot of valuable information here from very experienced techs and newbies alike!!!

I would recommend it is a good idea to get a little experience with a small salon,helping out, before going it alone on clients in the beginning.... This will help you to build confidence and skills which you will not have been able to pick up on such a short course! Also you may get some insight into other products and types of enhancement!!

With a lot of hard work and just the right mixture of luck, you can become a great tech I'm sure!

I'm a newbie to nails too. I've done a star nails course and am 3/4 way through the Creative foundation course.

I'd definitely recommend you get some more training to build on what you know and pick up new techniques.

You'll love this site - you'll get so much advice and support from other geeks.

Hi and Welcome Claire - everyone that has posted so far is right this is an adictive site - I only started in Jan and am on everyday. The tutorials are fantastic print them out and keep them in a folder for reference, they are as good as any maual.

I'm in Caernarfon. Thanks for all your replies by the way and such a warm welcome. To be honest, feel like a bit of a fraud being on here now... The more I read, the more I realise I know nowt!!! I'm thinking of doing the Creative Foundation Course cos the more I read, it seems to be the popular way to go. I think I'll do freinds and family with the UV Acrylic system I've been taught and then 'go for it' when I've got a bit more knowledge blah blah... Will keep checking out this site for tips and reading the tutorials for the time being though. x

Many on my course said what they learnt elsewhere was totally different to the advice given by Creative.

I wish i had taken the plunge into nails earlier.

Been ages since I went to Caenarfon, we actually camped there for a week in '96.

I am also new to the site found it a couple of weeks ago now.

I have only been doing nails for a few months now just on friends really I need to really I hope one day to get much much better!
