Hi all, my names Katie and I've recently come across this forum after searching for nail tech courses. I did a short course over 6 years ago through my local college doing fibreglass nails and have been doing it as a part time hobby ever since, teaching myself acrylic along the way. Only recently have i decided to head into nails full time as my main career, and have been looking at what courses i need to take. I have come across the essential nails courses and was looking into taking the acrylic and maintenance course and then the nail art course to get my insurance. Just wondered if anyone has done this and gone on succesfully into employment? Thanks in advance xx :)

Hello Katie ,
I know a few people who have done courses with essential nails but they said it was quite hard as they didn't have a tutor there to guide them through it .
I run short courses accredited courses and I'm based in essex . Not sure if that's close to where you live . If , I can be of any help , please message me for more details
Take care

Hi hun, I would check with insurance providers first, I have been told that a lot of them won't accept Essential nails certs. This might have changed since I last looked into this so please check for yourself.
Also some companies won't take there certs either which means you wouldn't be able to buy their products or attend their product conversion courses.

well after doing a bit more research i have come across a training course at pinks training academy which is located in my home town in tamworth, they do a 3 day nail tech course which teaches the same as the nvq, but you are babtac qualified instead and then was just going to do the one day nail art course to brush up on that. think im going to give the essential nails a miss purely coz of the price. is a babtac qualification good enough? it does say that you can get insurance from that as well. can i go straight into self employment with all of that? x

i can also progress onto nvq from those courses if i wish, not sure if it will be necassary though x
