I have recently done a waxing course but was not told to use talc or oil. After reading a lot of the posts on here I'm a bit worried what I should do?

you can use talc or oil. If using hot wax for bikinis or underarm or facial hair, i would use a teeny tiny bit of oil underneath the wax to protect skin. If using strip wax on the legs i just cleanse skin and apply wax. e:)

It depends mainly on the product you have trained with, but using oil should be perfectly fine as it creates a protective barrier, preparing the skin for waxing and easy release.
Talc is a little controversial especially when used on the bikini area.

I use jasmine oil both before and after. Its so much better than talc. You just need to use a little bit under the wax, it makes such a difference for the client, then after the waxing I use a little to remove any residual wax or stickiness and then cleanse and moisturise.

Thanks very much for your replies I'm defiantly going to try using a small amount of oil now. :)

Little bit of oil unless the client is sweaty and then some Talc free powder (I use the femfresh one!)

Did your course train you to use warm wax? If so, I wouldn't expect them to teach you to use oil, because trainers don't normally teach oil under warm wax.

Definitely use some oil under hot wax. There are some health and safety concerns about talc at the moment - there was a post on here saying that a health and safety inspector had threatened closure because of the use of talc. It's because of the risk of respiratory irritation.

I don't know if the talc issue has been proved and is official yet, so I'm sticking to oil for now.

It was mainly warm wax but we did wax an underarm with hot wax but there was no mention if using oil prior to the wax.
I have been to PB today and have invested in some Perron Rigot euroblonde and some Jasmine oil so I shall give it a try.

Congrats! You're on your way to being a super-star waxer. p.s. if you haven't guessed - I'm an oil man myself :)
