Ive had the same consultant for 20 years carl and i trust his opinions, judjments and advice 100%

IT ALSO SHOWS THE DETERIATION IN THE NERVE CONDUCT TEST (ooops sorry for caps) from the one i had done last year to the one i had done last week.

I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the RSI opps, same healing time, bandaging, elevation, stitches etc so im not worried about it been done, just theres no way i can have both done together :irked:

Just to add the consultant said my right hand is worse due to it working more to compensate my left not having full movement, maybe i should get that done 1st lol

Again, I find this interesting .... please don't think i'm arguing (as I'm often accused), I find it odd that if you are left or right handed, you would think that you would use either your left hand to grip, then file with the right (or visa versa), seems odd to have it in both hands .... hope you know where I am coming from, it's an interesting discussion and if i thought it wouldn't make interesting reading for others, i'd have taken it private. But due to nursing my mate through his operation, i find it an interesting subject (having had first hand experience) ... no pun intented.

It's interesting to see pictures also, as whenever someone mentions carpel, i think we all have a different idea of where it is, where it will be operated on (as well as the varying symptoms and outcomes).

Why do some get it and some don't?

Good luck for everything Pips.... sounds like you have been going through the mill for a long time...

I would only want one hand done at a time aswell....!!!! I am thinking toilet here

I had Carpal tunnel syndrome and had the op over 3 years ago, when I had lost all feeling in 3 fingers.

The carpal tunnel is in the wrist but the site of my op was at the base of my palm, pinkie side.

It was sore for a few days but within 2 weeks I could do ironing with no problem and 6 weeks later there was only a small scar to show for it. I was in the hospital for part of the afternoon only (local anaesthetic)

Not my first choice of how to spend a day, but not too bad.

I guess the severity of it and the location (ie fingers affected) determins the site of the scar as i knew someone who had a scar in the middle of her palm from the opp:rolleyes:

I have today spoke to the consultant and explained that to have both done at the same time is (in my view) a big no no as i have the little fella to look after and im very indipendant and dont want people running round after me. He fully understood and im now having right hand 1st followed by left a month or 2 after.

Carl i understand what you mean, its something i thought about lots after 3 opps for RSI...why do some get it and others dont?
Why more in one arm than the other?

I guess we are all different (and lets face it, if we wernt it would be a sad world)
