Hi guys, thoughts on Open Study College courses please?

Am looking into being a nail technician course to allow me to work around kids at school, so many to choose from! so many prices! different courses include different things!

how do you know whats good and whats not?

any help would be great! x

What services would you like to offer?

You'll get lots of different opinions on here.
I studied at college initially and the course was dated however we spent lots of time on theory which I think is essential and also lots of home practicing luxury manicure, pedicure and tip and overlay enhancements with our lecturer overlooking it all.

to begin with I'd like to offer, Shellac or Gelish enhancements/infills, acrylic enhancements/infills (but would probably remove that once confident in favour of the gel, can't be dealing with the smell day in day out), manicure, pedicure. Also retail cuticle oil.

eventually would like to add lashes and brows.

I have seen loads of online courses, which will be the best option for me. I have the essential nails brochure arriving soon, looked at CND, salon services, nail harmony and the beauty academy. Prices differ but contents seem pretty similar, except some courses are about £300 with no kit or £450 with a gigantic kit, lamp and everything! So confusing as to who will offer what i need to the best level for starting out.

I did mine with Essential Nails Via Open Study College - its cheaper going direct though! I love Essential Nails, good products and you work at your own pace, so if you struggle with something, you can practise until its right without feeling rushed. They also have a good support line via phone and email.

My number one piece of advice is
Never scrimp on your education!

If you just want to do your own nails or for friends, short courses or online education is fine but if you're serious about running a successful businesses in the future, you will end up having to spend more time and more money taking your education up to the next level.

Invest in yourself and your future.
