Afternoon,

My sister has very thick curly hair which is naturally auburn but she has been blonde (via hairdresser) for years. She straightens her hair daily. ( so her hair is not in the best condition, I keep banging on about olaplex or smartbond) She is currently pregnant and so won't have the time to daily straighten once the baby arrives.

As a birthday pressie I was looking to get a gift voucher towards having her hair professionally straightened but unsure if she's even suitable due to being pregnant/ heavily bleached hair etc or if she is what type would suit her? As Google throws up a few options .

Any advice would be appreciated
Xx

If her hair is already quite damaged from bleaching and added heat, I wouldn’t attempt it as professional straightening is similar to perming in that the chemicals used are very strong and it’s likely to lead to significant breakage. Combined with hormone changes from pregnancy, I’d be recommending a good cut removing a lot of the damage as this will make her hair easier to manage post partum. A lot of women wear their hair in a pony for a significant portion of the baby years. :)

(Olaplex repairs broken internal bonds (bleach) but cannot repair external cuticle damage caused by regular hot iron straightening.)

Ah fabulous, thanks! I won't be getting her that then. Maybe some kink free hair bobbles for her pony tails!

Didn't know that about olaplex, my be more useful for her once the daily straightening stops.

Thanks again x
