Ive been asked to do an overlay on 2 thumbs. The middle section of the nail plate (1/2 cm ish wide) of her thumbs have the furrows. Either side of this the nail appears fine. However the furrows are really deep and that part of the nail plate is really uneven.

She puts this down to her picking her cuticle as a child which went down through the nail, it then grew like this and it never grew out.

She is now really concious of it, and would like it covered up with a overlay. Because of her job she doesnt want any more length than what she has already.

My dilema is what is the best overlay to put on her? How do you dehydrate the nail plate properly when the furrows are so deep?

THANK YOU ALL Xxx

I have aclient whose ring finger ,right hand , is similar to what you describe. I use L & P and continue as normal - the only thing is i have to use a variety of files to prep with. Kanga for majority of nail - the corner if a small square file (from young nails) and the point of a battery hand -held mechanical file (switched of I might add!) and i gently dig into the crevices. then scrub fresh as normal (and i do use acid free primer to encourage a good bond.)

as the dent is down the centre of the nail you could use a little of a denser pink powder (i use flawless pink) to disguise the area.

Just be gentle with your filing and itll be fine!

let us know if it works ok.

Helo, and welcome. I see you are new! :green:

Thanks very much for your reply. Ive done the overlay now, and got infills booked in so thats good. Ive never seen furrows so deep, acrylic is still on so thats a good sign. Used kanga board, and scrub fresh.

Thanks again Xxx
