My Wife got this product for me. It claims to strengthen natural nails and get rid of ridges. I have bad ridges on both thumbs caused I think by damaged cuticles due to picking, now the nails never get any length and are not smooth.
This is an embarrasing problem for me as being a biter I have made a determined effort to improve my finger nails and the rest look reasonably neat.
What do you professionals think is this worth it or would solar oil be more effective.
Thanks
Steve

Hi, your probably gonna be best booking in for weekly manicure as buffing the nail is probably going to be the best bet for getting rid of ridges (i wouldn't advise doing this yourself at home because its easy to over buff and make the nail sore and weak). plus getting regular manicures will encourage your nails to grow hth xx

Sarah-Rose,
Thanks for your reply and I agree regular manicures have helped in the past. I think that problem is I pick at the thumb cuticle with the index finger and on both hands! I am trying really hard to break this habit because the thumbs cause me a lot of embarasment to the point where I'm trying to hide them from view.
In the past I've had regular manicures, I've even tried acrylics on the thumbs but they always tended to get shiny in a day or two and never looked natural enough. I just hope all my self inflicted damage hasn't resulted in permanent damage as they don't seem to grow to the length of the other nails. I'm hoping with really good cuticle moisturising and leaving them alone they will recover.
