Hi

I have just started my level 2 at college and are having real trouble with my 9 section for the perm. Also the rods go in but some sides are slack and others are tighter. I think I have figured that the middle sections need to be thicker in order for all the rods to go in place correctly. Just practising this and it isn't getting better. I have two days at college and are doing a theory day and a practical day at home in order for me to improve but really worried as to why this isn't improving. Any advice?

think you've answered it! practice and lots more practice!! dont be too timid when winding you need good even tension to keep them secure and remember your fitting straight perm rods on a round head so maybe watch how your angling the rods down the sides? but again your just learing so keep practicing and you'll get there :)

As already mentioned practice, practice, practice.
It makes me laugh because when I first started I used to be scared of doing a perm - I hated it! my heart used to sink if I was asked to do one :( Then one day I did it without even thinking (on a client) it was such a confidence boost and I never looked back. I think it wasn't the fact I couldn't do it cos I obvs could, I think it was mostly in my head me telling myself I couldn't do it.
Just relax, take your time and practice. Give yourself a pep talk before hand telling yourself u can do :) don't be like telling yourself you can't as this will hold u back just as much xx
