Hi guys

Can you give me some advice I'm wanting ideally both but if not possible just the highlights for now put into my hair but I'm 30 weeks pregnant. Will this prevent hairdressers working on my hair and if so how long should I wait until after the baby to have it done? Feeling big and frumpy!

Thanks very much.xx

Aw, most of us go through that fat and frumpy phase. Try not to feel too bad about it. :)

Probably best to stick with highlights after having a skin test 48hours beforehand. Don't risk any colour service without a skin test as hormones make your body act quite differently to normal.

Perms are often unpredictable on pregnant ladies due to the hormone fluctuations and often don't take at all. Depending on whether you're breast feeding afterwards, it's probably worth waiting at least 6 months for your body to settle down before having a perm.

When pregnant, your hair doesn't follow the normal growth cycle and often doesn't shed much at all. That's why it always looks super healthy and lush.

However, after pregnancy, the hair that you would have shed naturally during the 9 months will now start to fall out and so it feels like you're losing huge amounts of hair in a short-ish period of time. But it will slow down and revert to a more normal growth pattern. Once it does this, perms and colours should work normally.

Hope that helps?

Thankyou☺️
That's really informative and I now totally understand why I'm best to wait-plus I won't freak out at the amount of hair loss after like with my first child!

Thanks again for such a thorough reply.xx
