Hi geeks

Iv just bought a shop that needs a lot of work doing to it to create a hair salon with beauty room and a nail bar. I will be doing rent a chair and rent the room and nail bar also.

I was wondering what you guys do about appointment books, I thought beauty and nails would have their own books but what about hair appointment book? would we all be in one book? (don't want my reseption desk to look cluttered with loads of appointment books) would it be worth investing in some kind of software that everyone could keep up dated on there? Or is this more if I was employing staff?

So much to think about and would be really grateful for as much advise as poss.

Hi there.

I don't own a salon and is not an expert at reception/office work, but I would say have a seperate appointment book for hair. They are all different services, so I would want to keep the appointments in their appropriate books.

As for computer software. There are probably many business software packages for the salon world. You could even have an expert in to design your own personal reception system. However I would imagine these would be fairly expensive.
With regards to booking appointments on the computer. It would have different booking systems in place for the appropriate salon service you offer your client, and if the client has booked several different services, they could all be interlinked anyway with the click of the mouse.

hi ya when i rented a chair we all just had our own appointment books , have also been at places with the computer system it was ok , but i am old school i prefer to write everything in a book , lol
 
we use i complete for all the hair, nails, tanning beauty, photography.

it great as we can all access it from home.

yes we can all access it as long we have the password. it is called i complete we also have our phone through them, and the system logs all calls, and can divert them to a mobile etc.
 
we all have our own books . . .you kinda need that for easier bookkeeping at the end of the tax year etc. . after all renting a chair is several small businesses everyone needs there own records.
 
We all have our own books as well my accountant said we need this to help to show were self employed to the tax man
 
Thank you everyone, think it's all our own books then. Do you all have your own business cards and your clients ring you direct? Any more good tips would be great about having a rent a chair salon.
