I'm a training nail tech soon to be qualified, I've been doing nails from home around my current job but it takes me so long :( gel and acrylic enhancements have taken me 3 hours and I don't seem to be getting quicker! Is this normal? Is there any tips and tricks I can do to speed up? Or will I just gradually get quicker with experience? Please help me ☺

Timing will come! I'm more than certain this is everyone whilst training! Don't be so hard on yourself.. Keep going x

Its normal hun! Wel it was for me anyway! I qualified in acrylics in october. Admittedly i havnt done to many sets since then so my timings arnt much better but yes you will get quicker with practice! I found i was really slow when filing but that was coz i was really nervous about catching skin with the file but as my confidence with the file grew i got quicker!

As i say i havnt been doing it long so cant really give any tips but im sure someone else will be able to help! Xx

Yeh that's what scares me too, the first set I did on my sister in law I sliced her skin trying to file the sides and since then I'm so cautious, I think that is the problem for me xx

I did it to myself! Have u tried scoring the edge of your files with another file? Also one you get the hang of angling the file round the cuticle area you get quicker aswell. Xx

No I haven't tried that I'll give that a go thanks, I'm quicker with my training hand but that's because I can be rougher (not nervous) I'm leaving my current job soon to completey focus on nails I just hope I speed up a bit by then otherwise I'll be working extremely long hours to make a living lol xx
