awww geeks i need help!!!

i have the learning bug and want to do a course next year...only cant decide which.

I have a real interest in Reflexology, but can make up my mind wether i would be better off to do this or Sweedish body massage.

HELP - i am normally good at making decisions !!

Anyone done these courses? How popular is reflexology / massage

help got my knckers in a twist!

Amb xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'd go for massage!!

I love doing massgaes, it's really relaxing and very beneficial!
I had reflexology done once and I didn't really enjoy it! I think massage is more theraputic!!

Hi Ambs

Hmmm, not sure which I'd pick either, but my colleague went in for massage which included thorough A&P and then followed this up with reflexology afterwards which was then a much shorter course, as she obviously had the A&P element already.

The bulk of her clients to date have been for massage, aromatherapy massage and swedish massage with only a few queries for reflexology so, on that basis, I guess if it were me, I'd probably opt to get massage under my belt first, and then move on to the other later, if I felt there was demand for it?

Not much help am I?!

OH POOP... that is what my friends and family have all said.....really fancy reflexology though!

and indian head....cosmetic make-up...........

oh no just realised this is in the wrong forum too! sorry

Hiya! Not sure if this applies but in the college I go to I have to have done body massage before I do reflexology. It might be different in other places though.
I want to do reflexology too! Aromatherapy massage is good. Sooooo relaxing! Im doin body massage this year so hopefully i can get reflexology done soon! Whatever you choose im sure you'll enjoy it!

You have a busy time of study ahead of you then by the sounds of it Amb. At least if you do the all-singing, all-dancing massage course first, the reflexology and head massage courses will be much, much shorter ones as you wont need to worry about the A&P then huh.

Thinking about it, why don't you go for Level 3 Beauty and take the massage route which, going by the course near me, includes head and body massage, aromatherapy massage as well as Indian head massage plus another option?

OH NO ...I needed u to throw that into the equasion now didnt i balloo!!!!

At one of our colleges... reflexology and massage include the A+P on the course...... the other college you do a+p separate.. reflexology separate.. massage separate am i making sense.

Going to look into level 3 ....only i think this is one day a week - if it is cant do it !

THanks for the help

Oops, couldn't help myself :o ...I do have this knack for complicating matters don't I

Thing is, I just always end up thinking that, by the time you've got a list of must have's/do's, and what order to do them in, you may just as well do the whole lot in one go because it just seems a whole lot easier and you know where you are!

What sort of study times would you want then, if one day a week would be a no go?

no can do its a day in the week ! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

hiya hunny. Just thought id let you know that im a swedish masseuse. I havent actually started working yet so cant tell you how popular it is.

But i did a swedish massage course and anatomy and physiology together at a great place. It was hard work doing both along side each other, but mine was a very indepth course, i doubt they are all like that!
Theyve actually stopped doing the course i did now, as they are saying its too much work so theyve split it down! lol typical!

anyways swedish massage is great to do, alot of people now more about massage, well they know they like it. I still think people dont know that much about reflexology!

But it does sound to me like you want to do reflexology more, but everyone else is saying do massage.! you gotta do what you like doing, otherwise what is the point in doing it!

by the sounds of it ull probably end up learning both at some point, its just deciding which one first babe!

xxx

thats what they have done at my college, split it into 2 courses
thanks for the advice !

i'll be the odd one out i think reflexology its is wonderful and so relaxing but have never had a sweddish massage so could be missing out somewhere, anyone want to use me as a masage model lol

just to muddle you up more...

at college i did swedish before reflexology and I absolutely hate it (the swedish that is)! I prefer to do reflexology, but neither of them are as popular as my aromatherapy massage

Anytime your in Devon scattyfox ur welcome to a massage! xxx

It would be massage for me, I'm only trained in massage not reflexology but at the spa where I worked massage was always more popular than reflexology.

I did massage but at one time I fancied going into reflexology but never got round to it as nails seemed to kidnap my soul.
I was of the understanding though that you need to have a massage qualification or at least A&P before you can do reflexology, at least thats what you need here so I may be wrong. Its something worth checking out though as it may sway your decision.
I`d always give you a massage Lucia, you only have to ask!

I was lucky enough to be a case study fro my friend for indian Head Massage.....it was awesome!!! I wouldn't say that it was better thatn a massage jsut differnent and as good as.

why don't you ask your existing clients what they would prefer.

Hi Minkus

Im doing a year's swedish massage course in Sept. The reflexology course i looked at needs you to have A and P before hand (which i dont) but the massage course i will get that included in the course. So can do the Reflexology course after (if money allows).

With the massage you can become quite specialised (baby massage, sports injury etc) so that might give you more options, but ive had reflexology on a regular basis and love.

GOOD LUCK, and let us know what you decide

Hi

Well i have to say massage is more popular in my salon. We did have a girl once who could do reflexology and i advertised it and she got ONE client!!

I would go for level 3 beauty and defo do the aromatherapy course with it, then if you really enjoy it you can progress to sports injury's etc....you know amb all those injured sportsmen half naked on your couch.........whats a girl to do eh??

Hi,
I studied Reflexology several years ago but had to do Swedish massage first because at the time it was the only way to cover the necessary Anatomy & Physiology. A&P now seems to be a separate course, so you can theoretically skip massage and go straight for the feet.
Had it not been a necessity I probably wouldn't have done the massage course, but in hindsight I'm glad I did as it led me on to Indian Head, Aromatherapy and Sports Massage - which were all very interesting.
Kinda got addicted to courses after that and ended up doing Nails!!

I think it takes longer to get reflexology clients because people are unaware of the benefits as opposed to massage where people generally know what to expect.
If it weren't for the potential lack of clients I'd say do Reflexology :)
That probably doesn't swing it though does it!
Colin
