Hello geeks hope you can help me! I am recently qualified nail tech and just practicing on family and friends. I done these gel polish nails for my mother in law she wants me to do a new set tomorrow but her nail has broke like this, says it doesn't hurt and has asked what I can do with it. But tbh i don't know tia xx

I would apply nail glue to stick it together first them gel again over it just so it dose not catch and rip more, unsure how low down it is but if it is passed sticking it together cut it she'll just to have a stumpy one

You can do the "tea bag trick".
cut and empty out a tea bag.
then cut a small amount of the tea bag so its small enough to cover the whole crack in the nail.
buff the surface of the nail very gently and apply the small piece of tea bag over the nail.
apply a small amount of nail glue to the tea bag.
wait for the glue to dry then buff the tea bag/glue until it is smooth!
then apply go about your normal gel polish routine!

Hopefully my instructions are clear enough haha - it's hard to explain without showing you in pictures.
I'll see if i can find a tutorial on youtube and post it!

I would not use glue to repair this as it could make the nail subject to infection . You can repair using fiberglass but you would need to put a layer of building gel ( can be a self leveling one ) to give strength until the split grows out

Prep nail as normal , Apply base gel then cut a strip of fiberglass and apply over split . Press the fiberglass down with the flat of your brush , cure then apply and cure a thin level of gel then continue with colour

Thank you for your replies x

Silk wrap I use them all the time amazing!! Holds it great under a gel polish xsx

Fibreglass or silk wrap would do, however, I please appeal that you don't go tearing open a teabag!! Not a professional product. Not designed for cosmetic use. Not appropriate!

I'd do a silk wrap over the nail with an extra reinforcing strip across the stress area then gel polish onto. Try to keep the nail on the shorter side whilst the split grows out.
