what are you thoughts on plucking hairs from moles?
I know its a no no for the therapist to wax over a mole, but if a client has an unsighty hairs growing from a mole, should you leave them well alone or is it safe to carry out this procedure?
would love to hear your comments and advice please! thanks.

Its also a no no to pluck hairs out of moles. You could always use your professional scissors to trim it very close to the surface (avoiding any friction or harm to the mole of course) this will make it look more acceptable.

You can pluck hairs from moles but be careful because Plucking may cause inflammation resulting in a painful lump under the mole.

Well there you go... I stand corrected there then. I was told by a doctor that moles were not to be agrivated in any form as it can cause them to become malignant.

I have 2 moles on my face and about 6 six on my arms that grow horrible thick black hairs,
i have been plucking these for almost 30 years now and i am still fine (touch wood) as long as you use clean tweezers and wipe the area to make it sanitary you should be fine to pluck them hun,

your right Jen Dr's do advise against it as a precautionary measure

I have a small pale brown mole on my cheek close to my mouth, (my Marilyn Monroe look!) it has a hair that grow from it and as soon as it's long enough, I pluck it out with one good pull.
Been doing it for years.
I can understand the doctors would suggest you don't do this.

If it was me and I had a client with a mole with a hair, I would tell them it's not recommended to pluck out, but I have one which I pluck - therefore the choice is up to the client & I would also tell them to do it themselves, but the onus is on them and not me. As opposed to you doing it for them, that way, if anything came of it, it's their own doing & cannot be reflected back at you/me.

Electrolysis is fab for moles with hairs in them. I have had great results and you can find that the mole shrinks with it too. It does require doctors permission though.

Yip pluck the buggers... lol i have a mole just above the side of my mouth and it grows a thick pail hair that tickles my lip if it grows to long and I pluck the bugger and have done for years not had any problems so far thank god... xx

this actually came up in my class tonight as we are doing waxing we were told to never pluck or wax any hair from moles and to trim them so not to aggravate the mole. gps often remove moles i had one removed myself didnt take very long.

Totally agree with this Bev.

I was told by a derm that it was ok, so I do. It's just one of those insurance things as usual.

Same for me. . . and yes the mole can shrink. I've found that in every case (over the past 20 odd years) where I've referred a client to her GP, the GP has been happy to write a letter giving permission for removal of the hairs from the mole, with the exception of one client with a large dark mole on her face.

I've plucked and shaved.....ffs it's on my cheek!
No probs yet anyways x

thanks for all your advice girlies!! xxxxx

my fave treatment is electrolysis, during training NO treatment of mole hair. However, my daughter has LOADS of bad-looking moles (she was at time about 14-15) and we went to private dermatologist. Dr. said moles were ok, so pluck hairs! When i told her i did E she stated that E current could make them worse, but other clients have been referrred to me for E from different dermatologists! So it seems to depend on individual dr.s view! Since then i have done advanced cos procedures course and know that they can be treated safely, but for insurance purposes, a gp referral is necessary.

Hope this makes sense!

Yes me too. I have a quite large beauty spot at the top of my lip where 3 little hairs grow out of. I was told by my doctor not to pluck them. So i cut them with scissors.
I wont pluck my clients moles either. Maybe it's personal choice but i'd rather stay on the safe side and not do it xxx
