Sooo i currently have a loreal feria in plum power box dye on my hair which is a natural base 4 ... To get back to this will i need the plum stripping or could it simply be done over? Once back to my base i want to add a full head blonde hilights. Will this be to much for my hair to take at once?

Obviously go to a salon to get this kind of work done, firstly you need a test to see if the box dye will react to salon products, then a strand test done to see what colour you hair will go to without compromising it's condition. They will tell normally give you a couple of options, then after this Give it 2 weeks of using professional shampoo, treatments and conditioner, a strengthing one is best and then start looking at working foils through slowly. I wouldn't recommend going from one to another in a day!! Unless you have a spare asda bag!!

Oh yes definately! I just really fancy a change; im doing my level 2 hairdressing myself but at college, but id rather go to a professional for this kind of work. Xx

If you're on level 2, same as i am, why are you using box dyes? Not being funny but there are a load of different websites you can open student trade accounts on if there isnt a wholesalers near to you. Using professional products makes it a hell of a lot easier to change colours with. It most likely will need either stripping or bleach bathing but i think Feria has metallic salts in it so you would have to have a test strand done to check condition first.

Hi Gemma, it is possible to remove the plum colour - I used effinage eraser on a dark plum last week and it took it right back to the clients normal base 6, i couldn't believe it! This appointment was at the clients house (i have a home salon with backwash basin etc) and it was a pain in the backside as there is loads of rinsing involved (5 minutes, then 4 shampoo's, then further rinsing etc) so it's not really practical to do it yourself - you need to go to a salon hun. Also, it's ok to highlight straight afterwards, good luck and let us know how it turns out xx
