I'm not playing any more !!!!

I'm sick to death of producing an ok (aiming for brilliant) set of acrylics that are nice and thin at the free edge, only for them to end up cruddy looking after I've painted them.

They always end up looking thick (from polish) and cheap. Ok, here's the low down, using all brand new polishes by the way.

1. 1 coat of Sticky
2. 2 coats of pale pink (couldn't get away with 1)
3. 2 coats of white on the French (1 didn't notice)
4. 1 coat of Super Shiney

By the time I'd applied that lot, she looked like Edwards Scissor Hands.

Please tell me what to do. Thanks so much. xxx

Hi Kimmi,
I take it you are doing one colour L&P? I have read on here you can use More than white with L&P, have you thought about trying that? Or using white tips?

When I French Polish I do thin layers of the following
1 basecoat
1 tips in white
1 coat pink sometimes 2 if I feel it needs it
1 topcoat

I only do French polish on natural nails so prefer a more subtle look ~ might be you need a stronger more opaque white polish?

What pink and white polish did you use?

Sorry, I can't think what they were called but they were all Creative. xx

Hi there

I use

stickey base coat
creme puff (2 thin layers)
Negligee (1 layer)
Super shiney

All the above cnd enamels

I tend to only use one coat of pink and white otherwise it becomes too bulky.

Sorry I can't help any more...... I tend to get abit of a block on enamel's, probably cause I don't do enough

Hi kimmi

Well i the only thing i can think of is maybe your applying your polish a little thick?

If you are then just use one coat of white. The way i do it depends on the clients preference some of them only like white and supershiney but i much prefer a coat of negligee on the top it looks much classier to me!

Why dont you pracice on a clear tip and try thinner coats??

I'll do just that. Thanks sweetie. xxx

Firstly Kimmi ...are ya absolutely sure your l&p is tapered real thin at the free edge, if its not it will really show in your polishing.
Another thing that I have found personally is that white polish tends to thicken a little when the weather is warm, someone advised to have a couple of bottles on the go.
I also do my French mani as described by L.A ... white first then base colour.

...Oops, see youve had more replies... I must learn to type faster, rofl!!! :o
