Prep method for Skyscraper L&P

Iv been trialling this lately after buying the starter kit at the beauty show. I'm having real problems with lifting which I didn't have with cnd. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the primer and bond aid that wasn't with the kit so haven't been using it but I'm going to order this weekend. Can anyone who uses skyscraper just explain their prep procedure please. Iv looked on YouTube at the application method but that doesn't show what they use for prep.
