Now come on please. I see Carl has taken the high road like a gentleman should and not bothered to reply. Nor do I read his post as a personal attack on you. In fact I found his response quite polite in comparison to your own.

Now regarding MMA.

It is only when MMA is contained in the monomer liquid that it is a danger to nails and surrounding skin. Many products contain PMMA in other ingredients and it causes no harm.

This is a site that is known for teaching the facts.
If one's information is not factual than keep it to yourself unless it is opinion and if it is then state that it is.

Regarding Doug Schoon ... He is a noted INDUSTRY spokesman and teaches chemical safety on behalf or our industry all over the world and is a scientist for goodness sakes. I think we can all trust what he is saying. I certainly trust him more than that silly article you posted about birth defects because it is entirely misleading. Nowhere have birth defects ever been linked to the use of nail polish!! This is the usual media BS sensationalism.

This is a forum for discussion and discuss away by all means but I see that you are not willing to discuss or listen but only to force your unsubstantiated views on others and if they do not agree or disprove what you are saying ... you are then not interested and become abusive.

Maxine, it is quite clear that you are hell bent for leather on ignoring scientific facts instead, citing press releases for your information base.

The statements you are making are not only ignorant, but are also clearly libelous as you are making clearly untrue statements. That is not only something that is illegal, it is something that will get you drop kicked from this forum like a hot potato.

Nail enamel formulations have been fairly constant since their origination almost a century ago (how did we all survive with mothers who wore nail enamel!?!?). We all support reformulations, but only when the reason is valid (i.e. formulation advancement which CND is actually doing!).

Though proven safe with decades of use behind it (and data to research it) the sad fact is, organizations get on band wagons saying 'safe isn't safe enough'. Sensationalist journalists looking to break a new story in a desensationalized world try to latch on and 'get the word out!'. Even sadder though is when a company uses these situations to capitalize on this ignorance. In fact, there are times when these movements have been started or encouraged by parties with financial interests (phenolic anyone?). Are you a victim of this, or an accomplice?

Regardless, do not come on here trying to discredit scientists that have given so much to the industry and a company that have always stood for safety and science. For whatever suspect reasons you have to search and bump up 3 year old threads in order to discredit, I will never know, so we shall leave it to our imagination.

Hi all.
I recently took a 10 week taster course and loved so i have enrolled on a full course to gain the qualifications i need to become a nail tech.
I have been practising and put a nail on my mum. I really had trouble getting the tip to stick, 4 tips later i got it on and added the overlay. I thought i had prepped te nail well but the glue didnt want to bond?
Well the tip has now been on a week and is still good, no lifting.
Why couldnt i get the tip on first time??

Also i have ordered some stock from beauty express. i have ordered a primer pen but after reading on here that not all products used require these? How do i know if i need this?
I am using L&P by the way. The products i have oredered are star nails??

Sorry for rambling, any help woul be great x

P.S how do i keep track of the threads i have posted?

Hi You keep track of the threads you've posted in your profile.
Do you have a practice hand or finger you can practice on instead of poor mum? (don't we all love mum) The other ladies are right that it's no use buying too much in the way or products till you've done your class so you know what your system requires but I know what it's like wanting to get right into it. I bought a pack of tips and I blue tacked them to a piece of timber when I first started. Also bought a no name L & P starter kit. Worked for me. I could practice to my little hearts content. Just remember that it's not safe to practice on anyone till you learn about and understand your products however tempting it may be.
Cheers
Karen

and to Nailzoo. You must be an awesome chef if what you dished up here is anything to go by. LOL

well.

i can only speak for myself, bt I know Doug's work and he knows what he says.

plus regarding OPI, I've often asked stuff to our chemist team, they have no reason to lie to me and often tell me not to use a product and pefer another way of achiving what I want, even if we don't offer it.
because theyre not limited in only one thing. plus both opi and cnd often offer products that are quite similar, if one gets a fda warning then the 2 corrects. i don0t see why CND wouldn0t of done it with their enamels when opi was requested to.

hense why...

in my vey humble opinion

YOU should give us any opposite wod/opinion on that formaldehyde RESIN you may have... would be interesting to read. and know where you got these from.

and nail zoo isn't the first person who tries everything, for some here it's an ideal and a way to still know what's going on in the business AND discover new stuff. it's better to know the product you wanna talk about from personnal experience than from i don't know what. just respect that.
