Hi All,
I am new to this site, and noticed it must only be for those of you over in England? ANyhow, maybe ya'll can help, I hope...
I live in a tiny tiny town in Montana, USA. In fact, there are only 2 beauty salons in town. I am finishing up my training to become a licensed Nail Tech, and I am opening a salon in November.
First of all, my "competition" only does acrylics. I have Gel, Fiberglass, and Acrylic services on my service menu. Anyhow, these women are RUDE! First of all, I havent even opened yet, and I have been approached to fix their AWFUL work. Their nails are lumpy, uneven, eithor product on the cuticles, or else there is a HUGE gap between the product and cuticles....etc. I have had people tell me that these ladies are so rough on their hands, that they're sore for days after the service. The point is, these women are laughing around town about how a new salon could never succeed when they already have all the business. I had a advertisement flyer around town and they went and took every single one down. In fact the drugstore next to them called me because they said that this lady came and asked to borrow my sign for a moment and never brought it back.
I almost wanted to print another one off, and hand deliver it to her and tell her i was sorry for forgetting to give her one....lol
My question is this....
I think that if she is doing as good of a job as possible, she wouldnt have to worry about competition, right?
I am just IRATE at people who go into this business because they think it is "cool" or "easy".
I have had a passion for doing nails for as long as I can remember. These women complain, (to their own customers!!!) about how they hate their jobs.
Am I being too snotty to now have even more motivation to knock the socks off of this town with great services? THese salons use LAWN FURNITURE!!! I am ordering a massaging recliner for my clients to sit in while I perform the services....
Please help me feel ok about opening a salon, because I just want others to feel as beautiful with a great set of nails, as I feel creating them for them.....
