Thanks everyone. I agree that since I've only been doing nails 6 months I need to just gain more experience over time. One thing I know for sure is I love gel nails.....both brisa and calgel, I just seem to be having more luck with the calgel (at least with overlays) I suppose everyone has their little tricks and ways of doing things, but the more knowledge we have the better.

Hi

I just wanted to add...i use BOTH Calgel and Brisa (and other brands too:eek: im a gel junkie)

You cant really compare the two.

I find Calgel never ever lifts (unless someone picks it :smack:or you use too coarse a file when rebalancing) BUT...it 'can' yellow where Brisa most definately WONT.

I appreciate your love of calgel if your experience of Brisa is giving you teething troubles but trust me..the two can work along side one another.

Sometimes not one gel will suit all!

Have you tried .....
  • throughly doing your prep, removing the cuticle remover with citrisoak/water solution (sorry havent read if you've done this)
  • Letting the nails COMPLETELY dry for a bit.
  • ENSURE you get in the nooks and crannies along the side walls with the koala to remove the shine
  • Scrubfresh
  • Liquid bond only one hand
  • Scrub in brisa (leaving a margin ) and LOCK cure each nail by nail till all the hands done then fully cure.
  • move onto the next hand as above
  • then start 'building' dont put ANY MORE GEL near the cuticle or side walls or free ege CONCENTRATE it in your apex area and lock cure each nail again then fully cure hand by hand
  • wipe, buff i then apply my french but we all do it differently
the main thing i'd try and get you to do till your more competant is do ONE nail at a time see if that changes anything?

Amb x

My first thought was 'are you waiting after removing cuticle remover/away?' I dry prepped for years and have absolutely NO problems now I do a more thorough prep so doubt thats what is causing the lifting unless there is a trace still on the nails. I am a recent Brisa convert and I too initially had problems of chipping from the free edge so I changed the way I applied product. I cant pin point it but like Amb I did everything slower and concetrated and really looked at what I was doing. It's still early days but havent had any phone calls.

I'm with another posters who rec that you do 121, I know you have been to 2 Brisa classes but bring a model and show your educator what you do and see if they can pin-point your problem.

I highley rec sticking it out a little - I'm getting great results and find Brisa a breeze to maintain.

Hi, this is my first post I'm just starting to do gels but know from doing L&P the self life is important. Product gets old and and can have produt brake down if past experation date or if expose to high heat or freezing tempertures. Have you ever lift it in the car. Call CND and found out how to read the date on the jars or bottles All product just like medicine have an experation time

Back again just found out the firsts numbers on the stamped CND liquid mommener is the year the product was made and is good for about 18 months after that, but in good conditions can last longer i was told by CND Rap. But please check with them yourself about Brisa Gel and how to read and where the date is and how long it can be used.(sorry not good with spelling) Every Product is differant on how long its at best performance, and every companies stamped date could be differeant ( Just now got my Package of Brisa Gels delievered as i'm writing this Ya!) I've been using IBD. Just learning gels and have learned alot from salon geek thank you all. Well try to learn how to us spell check in future post.
