Hiya

I have seen 'protein conditioner' used on this site quite a lot and would appreciate if someone could shed some light on what this is and how you know what conditioners are protein ones and which are not or if there are any you can recommend.

Also how good are they for your hair as sometimes people advise on here to use it then other times people advise not to use it too much. How often would you recommend For beached hair? Also is it just conditioners that are protein based or can some oils and things be too much protein? ( I sometimes cover my hair in almond oil for a hour or so is this ok? I have read about coconut oil is this better or just as good/bad?)

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

You would know by looking at the ingredients. It's not just conditioners, actually coconut oil is a protein. They are good for your hair, but if used in excess they can cause your hair to get brittle. Everyones hair reacts differently to protein. So you have to find what works best for you. I do a protein mask treatment, or coconut oil, once a month, sometimes every two weeks...it just depends. The important thing with protein is to balance with moisture, or a moisturizing mask. I don't actually know much about almond oil....so I can't give any advice on that.
