Please can hair geeks help me, I've got psoriasis on my scalp it gets very itchy,l and quite flakey. I've stopped washing my hair as often so the natural oils can work their magic, but I'm at a loss. I always flare up this time of year due to the weather but i find it a bit embarrassing to constantly have to dust off my black tunic at work :( xxx

For some people tanning beds help. That is all I can say. Just a low dose to control the natural balance of the fungi and bacteria. Sounds super gross but everyone has that. Imbalance in that may induce psoriasis and in summer UV will regulate that.

I did used to use sunbeds (for tanning, naughty I know) I did see a improvement in my skin and my eczema must try it again for my scalp. I keep holding off having my colour done because I don't want to irritate it. Thanks for the advice!

It's horrible. It used to make me so self conscious so I know how you feel :(

I Tried everything for mine (prescription & recommendations) and nothing improved it. Until the doctor prescribed me with dovobet gel.
Just apply & wash off after a few hours or next morning. Very greasy so I need to shampoo twice which is a pain but it's now cleared up.
I just have to use it roughly once every 2 weeks to control it.
Worth asking for if you haven't already tried it.
Xx

Thank you! I have an app with my gp this coming week I shall ask about it! xxx

I use betnovate scalp application - it smells very strong but reliefs the itching immediately! X

I use dovobet gel on my scalp as well blast it every nite for about a week then just have to use it odd time in following weeks

Where do you get that from? Xx
Doctors on prescription - tell the doctor what you want to try and they generally will write you a prescription up X

Try Alphosyl shampoo bought over the counter at the pharmacy. Its brill x

I find I have to wash mine more often when it flared up. If I leave it and my scalp gets oily my psoriasis gets worse and my scalp gets raw and sore

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice! I'm trying not to wash it and leave it up off my face X

Stress makes this condition flare up so it might be worth looking at ways of reducing it if possible x

Thank you! I invested in one of those colouring books to see if it would relax me a bit more - seems to help! X

I too have a similar problem! I hate popping to the toilet and catching a glimpse in the mirror and noticing half my head in my hair! :(
I have dyed hair (I have too many greys not to! Lol) and it's quite a vibrant red, I worry that any medicated shampoos could fade my hair or strip the colour? Any advice?x
