Hi guys

I know this subject keeps cropping up and I have read the tutorials which is making things abit clearer but the main problem I have when rebalancing is getting rid of the dreaded growth line.

I have tried filing behind any liftin so it just breaks away but it still dosnt seem to go and I end up just moving it further and further up the nail.

as the tutorial says you dont remove all the acrylic and just reapply what you have removed but then surely there will be a visible line ????????

how on earth do you blend that dam line invisibly!!!

Help me im going insane and I hate rebalancing!!!

Ahhh...sorry cant help much as i do gel and don't have this problem at all with gel. But when i have done L&P...i found that it was alot harder to file down than gel and any lifting i got was a nightmare to get rid of...so your not alone...i think its down to practice and skill...and with L&P i didn't have much of either.

Just my head going overtime now but as L&P dissolves in acetone..couldn't you get a cotton bud dipped in a little acetone and wipe over the lift line...would this blend it in...? this isn't a suggestion...more of a question.....?

You and me both - not much help eh!

I'm about to book on my rebalancing course cause i'm that pants at it.

Look forward to reading any replies you might have though.

a use a new 180 abrasive to file most of the product away then change to a 240 file when the product is loose and i'm near the natural nail. i find using new files helps with rebalancing, and filing above the line.

once the product has come away, theres no line because all is left is product which is firmly attached. if you still have a line then you need to file further above the product. filing downwards with the 240 helps too (away from the enhancement).

Thanks Emma I will try that I have another rebalance booked in tommorrow- Agghhh!!

Hi there Emma is right...
it sounds as though you are not filing in the right place...you don't file on the lifted product but slightly back from it where the product IS attached to the nail....then when you have filed through it it flakes away leaving a seal on the natural nail........it is hard work sometimes especially if the initial product was applied too thick....you should go over your prep and application though if you find you are still getting a lot of lifting.....prevention is so much better than cure!!!

And sorry Nailstyle...I never thought I would disagree with you!! :o but the Acetone suggestion is not a good idea, it would soften up the product too much and you have no control over it......For the same reason I would never try and blend a tip with acetone....

Ohhh no I wasnt saying it as a suggestion...i didnt know if it would work or not...never tried it as i only do Gel. I never use acetone to blend a tip either...lol..xxx :wink2:

I've recently swapped abrasives and my rebalances seem to be much easier :)

I used to use the Outblack but had 50 Tuxedo's in the cupboard that I got by mistake when I did my initial training and stock buying.

When I first trained I didn't like the Tuxedo and it seemed way too sharp and heavy duty for me as a newbie so I stuffed them to the back of the cupboard.

Last week I ran out of Outblacks and used a Tuxedo as a temporary messure and WOW! My rebalances are so much quicker now and that damned line that won't disappear just melts away with the white side - I'm converted

Try a change of abrasive and see if it helps a bit

nikki, we have all been there. i remember when i used to dread reblancing. i hated it. but now i've done more and more, i love doing it. its a nice feeling when u get the hang of it, that you can do anything, and the more and more problems you come across, the better you get cause you can see what you did wrong before and can correct it next time, making you more confident and a better nail tech.

keep going, it just kind of comes to you in the end. its like riding a bike. once you've learn't, you never forget.

chin up, and get those new files ready !!!

Just to let you all know did the rebalance and an infill today and followed your advice it was so much better (used young nails gold file that worked well)

got any lifting to come away no probs althouh I have to saythere wasnt much!!

I wa very impressed with the infill she had been away 3 weeks and had no lifting at all.

Thanks Guys.
