Hi all, I need some advise! I have a client who had a fair bit of colour build up of various browns/mahogany colours. She was aiming for dark brown on top with bright red underneath. After looking at her hair I decided to strip the underneath section of her hair and then used the maji RED, for the top section I used colour touch 44/65. Final results were lovely, the red was amazing and very vibrant and she was over the moon. After a few weeks the red faded which I had explained would no doubt happen so we freshened it up. A week on and the red has just about completly gone :( it doesn't seem to be lasting in her hair at all, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the red last longer? I have another client who gets the maji red full head and it hardly fades at all! Thanks in advance xx

My co worker has really bright red hair and where it's over processed the colour just comes right back out she solves this by using crazy colour every time she washes her hair, it is a pain but nothing seems to stay on the damaged parts

I'm sure maji red is just a mixtone??

Goldwell elumen RR@all is amazing!!! It's permanent,

Do you mean maji red as in maji contrast red ? Xx

It's not the mix tone, I double checked just incase I picked the wrong tube up but it's defo not mix tone! Might have to suggest the crazy colour idea, thanks x

If it's majicontrast that your using it's a bleach based product so maybe each time your refreshing it's processing hair bit more and making hair more porous, therefore not holding so well. There was another post on here recently that said to mix the majicontrast with a little warm water instead of peroxide and refresh ends that way x 😃

So you stripped the hair before applying majo contrast? Did you apply it to her scalp also? And when you refreshed it, did you reapply maji contast?
If that is so then no wonder is isnt lasting, you will have blown her cuticle wide open. Maji contrast is not to be used on hair which has been stripped. It cuts through colour as it contains bleach.
All I would recommend is a Chromative red by L'Oréal to use to keep the red fresh once a week or a dia light, which will probably give you a fortnight.

You arent supposed to use majicontrast on the scalp. You need to refresh the red with a semi permanent as everyone has said it is a high lift colour and the more you apply it on the same section of hair the more damaged the cuticle will become. Treat it like a high lift tint. You only apply once to the hair, then if it loses colour you tone it.

Do you mean majirouge in red say 666 or are you talking about majicontrast in red? X

I'm thinking it's maji contrast as she said RED with capitals rather than saying like 666 that's what's making me think it's maji contrast as that's just called red xx

Thanks for all your relies, I have been wrongly advised regarding the maji red which is why I am having problems. I only use the Wella koleston perfect and colour touch range so asked in the wholesalers for advise on the bright red, I have spoke to my client and we are going to use a red from the Wella range, although not as bright as she wanted it will last a bit longer and she is fine with this x

Yes it is a bright red just not over pre bleached hair or to refresh.

Remember the staff at wholesaler aren't usually hairdressers trained in multiple brands.

Did you also read the instructions inside the box?

The girl I asked is fully qualified in all hair/beauty which is why I asked for her advise, not sure why I have been told wrong info but lesson learned! x

But is she knowledgable is loreal?

Still, there are instructions in the box, you must have read them to get mixing ratio and development time.

I'm sure it would say about limitations and refreshing.
