reddy purple to caramel colour

I would like to go from purple to a caramelly colour... I'm naturally dark but I wanna try something a bit lighter.

now I'm gonna go hairdressers but i wanna no if 1. it will work and there not gonna just take my money 2. how and what they gonna do to my hair!

Any suggestions or tips how make this happen x
