Hi, I've just started in a salon and I'm abit disappointed as clients only seem to want file and polish not a full manicure which I charge more. So for file and polishes I charge £10 for normal nail polish and £15 for gels. But I charge £10 for gel removal however a client got a bit miffed that I charge £10 for removal plus a file and polish price saying she thought that removal was included so I just ending up charging her £10. Am I right in thinking removal for gels is an add on? or should I have included that in my original prices? I don't want to undercut myself nor do I want to seem like I'm sneaking the price up or misleading them.

I charge £25 for removal and reapplication ( I charge £20 for gelish w/out soak off ) if it's removal without reapplication I charge £10 . You are right to charge as it takes time and product x if I was removing and then file and polish I would only charge £5 + usual price of mini mani . Whatever your prices are always stick to them , if you give clients different prices it gets confusing and looks unprofessional xx

It depends on how you want to do it, personally I do include it. However, whichever way you choose to do it, you do need to make it clear of your price list so that there are no instances like this in future.

I charge £28.00 for a shellac manicure and don't charge extra for removal if they're having a reapplication. If they are having a removal without reapplication, then I charge £15 - this is clear on my pricelist.

I like your price of £5 for removal as long as their having something else done, thanks for the advice I'll just make sure I tell them the cost before I start treatment.

I do removals (of my own shellac work) for free with a minimum spend of five pounds.
I charge £23 for a standard shellac application whether they have a removal or not.

I charge £5 for a mini mani without polish

I charge £28 for removal and re application and £10 for removal on its own(which rarely clients want as normally stick with it) I would worry that if I charged separate every time they would be trying to get it off at home and damage there nails x

I'll think I will just have to tell them £5 for removal plus treatment and £10 just removal, when they book up. Because otherwise I'm losing money! I thought offering file&polish options would help bring people in but I think I've just ended up under cutting myself. I cant change my price list as its already printed but it does say gel removal £10 already on it.

Since your goal should be repeat customers, I think that removal ought to be part of the price for the gel service unless it is a removal from another tech. In that case, I think it ought to be based on the time spent doing the removal. I think we have all experienced the frustration of doing what should be an easy removal, only to be confronted with an hour long soak and file session.

I charge £15 for standard gel polish , £20 fore removal and re application and £10 just for removal with mini mani.

I charge £15 for gel polish or £19 to include removal prior to re-application and £7 for soak off and buff, if no other nail service is needed.

I include it but wish I'd never started

Snap! Was just saying that to my husband last night. When I started up I thought it was a great idea, now I really regret it as it adds on quite a bit of extra time, plus the materials I'm using! It's quite hard to start charging for it though isn't it when you've been including it for so long [emoji31].

I include removal in my price - £24. If people don't need removal they get an extra long hand and arm massage.
