I'm not a salon professional, but would really appreciate any advice.

I had two packs of Sleek style icon hair sewn in last year in shade 613. It was my first time having extensions. Anyway , I found them really dry all the time, didn't over do it with heat, bought lots of different products such as spray in conditioners and hair masks. I had them in for probably about 12 weeks and then got them taken out and put it down to being inexperienced.:o

I then bought brand new hair, same product, on the advice of Pauls Hair World and had it refitted. Again the same issue. I only lasted 3 weeks and took them out. They cost me £180 (2 packs) and if its possible would like to get them refitted but only if there is some product out there that can condition them so they don't dry out all the time.

Sorry for the Essay!! but does anyone have any advice or know of any miracle products that i could use?

I'm desperate for my long hair again!!!

Thanks

Natalie

Argan Oil is good for reviving hair extensions.

I did try that but it didn't seem to do any good.

I was applying while damp.

You can now get Argan Oil in a Spray Formulation that is great as it doesn't need washing out.

I tried pure coconut oil on my extensions after reading a thread on here about it and it was amazing!! Although my extensions weren't in bad condition to start with but it gave my own normally dull hair a great shine and my extensions felt so soft after!! I just got a tub of the pure solid oil from tescos it's really cheap and it melts in your hands when you touch it! I put it on dry hair overnight then washed out! Maybe worth a try? X

Just had a quick nose at Coconut Oil on tesco site. One is £2.25 found in the asian speciality aisle and the other is £6.00 which is with seeds and nuts.

Do you know which one it was?

It's this one! It was £2.25 I think!! X

have you had any luck with the coconut oil?

Another thing I can highly recommend is using a shampoo, conditioner and leave-in spray that contains keratin. This has helped my extensions so much to make them feel nice, soft and nourished again. I'm only using the leave- in spray which I use before blow- drying my hair, but using the whole range can't hurt when your hair is really dry :). Keratin is a substance produced by your own natural hair and as the extensions can't produce it anymore using products containing keratin gives them a nice boost.

Hope that helps.
x

I haven't had them sewn back in yet. I just wanted to get some advice before hand.

I did look for the coconut oil yesterday but couldn't find it.

I will also look out for a shampoo and conditioner with keratin in.

Thanks for the advice

Most over the counter shampoo and conditioner isn't suitable for hair Extensons. You need to buy products which are very low sulphate and alcohol free.

The Macadamia range is fab for Extensons. Shampoo conditioner and
The oil treatment.

What is your regular shampoo & conditioner you use when they are fitted? I like to recommend timotei 0% to my extension clients and then use a really good high end conditioner.. X
