Hi
I am looking to bring in a stylist self employed
This will be a 60/40 split with me supplying products/equipment

Just need some advice as all my staff are employed

Can I have money taken by reception as normal and the stylist invoice me at end of week or day?

Can I ask them to wear our uniform colours?

Will they be liable for their own insurance?

Sure there's more but any advice gratefully received x

They will be liable for there own insurance. Uniform you could ask most people wont mind but they are really allowes to wear what they want x

They are allowed to take their own payments & are responsible for paying you their 'rent' (thats technically what it is even though it is a % split) per day/week. Not the other way around.

You can ask if they would like to wear similar colours, but as they are a separate business within your business not your staff you can not enforce it.

You have to just be their landlord rather than a manager. I understand it being a % split you have a vested interest in their business, if they are busy it is good for both of you. But really you shouldn't. It does get a little trickier rather than with a straight forward rent per week, where they provide their own products etc.

Yes they will also be responsible for their own insurance.

Xx
