Hello Geeks ,

I've just returned back to being a self employed mobile hairdresser, I've been doing it for about 4 months now after being in the police force for 3 years. I seem to be taking around £250 -£300 a week from clients at the moment, this doesn't feel a lot but feel like I'm making myself ill worrying to death about not having the amount of clients booking in! My nerves are in shreds! I have a facebook page, I've just started paying the £3 a day on facebook to advertise and I'm thinking of doing a competition to get people sharing my page.

Is there any other mobile hairdressers out there who can offer any advice? How long did it take you to start taking an income you are happy with? Or am I
Being too hard on myself? I love hairdressing with a passion I just can't believe how stressful running your own business is. Ahhhh!

My answer is yes... You are being a little hard on yourself!
Take a deep breath... Seriously... It helps!
Just take a min to think about a few things...
You are back in the game after years away and it's only been 4months! 4 months is nothing, it will take time to build up steady client flow.
You are making a fair amount of money each week, big bonus, some people take nothing in the first few months.
This business can be feast or famine, meaning that you can be turning people away or wondering where they've all gone!
Running your own business is super stressful but also has it's perks, you have to take the rough with the smooth.
You say you're very passionate about it which is essential.
Stay passionate, decide your hours and stick to them, be reliable and do a great job and clients will keep coming back for more.

How is your business doing now it has been a few more months?

Absolutely fine Hun thank you! Making a very comfortable wage and have some lovely regular clients. I've found word of mouth has been my best advertisement! I still get stressed about having a blank diary for future months and clients cancelling appointments - but I love it and think that running your own business is always going to have its stresses :) the pros definitely outweigh the cons xx
