hi guys

So iv quit my job at a salon iv been working & im going self employed @ a very busy salon in a town centre. It's fairly straight forward, equipment & products provided, reception covered, good website/Facebook/insta which the owner is nice active on and it's a 50/50 split I believe to be very good. I'm just wondering about doing some advertising myself. I do a few treatments that the salon doesn't already provide (express lashes/intimate male n female & reflexology), the salon is really busy with nails facials massage, I'm just wondering if I should set up some separate social media pages to push these other treatments. What would you do? Would you be happy just doing the treatments the salon already provides and upselling in salon the other treatments or maybe advertise ? Xx

Anybody have any thoughts ? X

Does the salon provide the stock and would they be willing to buy in stock when the other girls don't offer those treatments. I have a girl started for me self employed and we do 65 to her 35 to me I'm at the moment finding it difficult.

Have you spoken to the salon owner about whether he/she would be willing to do a bit on the salon social media to say that you are new to the salon and offering all these new exciting treatments and maybe offering a discount for customers first appointment for these "new to the salon" treatments? You could get some leaflets printed up to put on reception and hand out when people pay their bill etc. Also ask if you are allowed an A board outside to say "now offering etc etc" for passers by? You aren't taking it away from the therapists already there because they don't offer it, so I would definitely advertise on the existing social media and your own Facebook to get friends to tell friends etc? Maybe you could hold an event for pre holiday season to gain interest in these treatments amongst existing clients?

Hi guys thanks for reply. Stayner salon provides me with equipment & stock, and we split 50/50.

Ruby thank you sounds like a plan, I will put that to salon owner about having a separate flyer stating new treatments x

Will the owner be happy though having to buy new stock specifically for you when the other therapists don't offer these treatments
