think you need to read the whole post again as your mixed up, im the hairdresser doing my friends hair but her other friend is a hairdresser and told her she would use bleach and 40 vol on her hair and im trying to make my friend realise that this would burn the scalp off her x

When i used to have bleached blonde hair, my hair dresser used 30 vol on my regrowth, but i couldnt wash it for about 5 days before if i did it burned my head like mad and i couldnt stand it, id have to wash it out.

oh god that sounds painful lol the things we do to be blonde lol x

You should never ever use 12% on the scalp with bleach. You will end up with terrible burns and damaged hair - a bit like fairy floss that will take ages to dry and be so sensitised. I have a base level 5 and use bleach and 6% and then loosely have a cap (very loosely!) over the top. I get a lovely clean bleach every time without any need to reapply other than tone accordingly. Another tip that our Schwartzkopf rep has told me is that with the dust-free bleaches you need to give them a good shake prior to mixing as they can separate and make your bleach not as active or a bit patchy.

I'm a natural 4-5 and when I went platinum it took 40 vol bleach under the dryer for 45 min twice. Definitely did damage but hair wasn't falling out. Really it depends on the hair. I'm part Mexican and my hair is a little more coarse. But I rarely use 40 vol bleach on scalp on any of my clients.

Hair never ever needs 40vol and bleach. All 40vol does is lifts it FASTER and damages the hair, ravages it. If you were to bale a cake at 200 degrees for 20mins, would you get the same result if you put it in the oven at 400 degrees for 10mins?! NO!!!

Please please please. For the sake of your clients hair. Do bleach and 20 or 30 but leave it on for longer. DO NOT put 40vol under the dryer.... Unless you love courts and want to get sued!!!

hi thanks all for comments yes i definately wont be using 40 vol i will stick with the low peroxide then use the milkshake toner thanks again x

I have always done 6% with my bleach weather it be foils or scalp application. Always remember in case you need to be doing a toner it will destroy the scalp if you do another higher than 6% then a toner on top :)
