Hi ladies, I could do with some help!
I am trained in gel nails and did them for years, however I got dermatitis on my hands a few years ago. Since then I have not really done that many gels as it is painful and makes it very hard to do other treatments. Recently I have started using the shellac system and (touch wood) I don't have reactions to it! Thank you lord!
However I do find that Shellac lifts/peels very quickly compared to the gels I have used in the past. If I put the Brisa gel under the Shellac this seems to make it last longer, but not as long as my other gel systems have in the past.
I have do the following procedure:
Done cuticle work and removed product
Used ScrubFresh over the nail plate
Used NailFresh to dehydrate the nail
Then apply the product (1x base, 2x colour, 1x top)
Then removed the inhibition layer

Is this right or I am missing something?
Thanks in advance!!!

Your best bet is to do the shellac conversion course. It's one day and it will go into detail everything you need to know about using the brand. Your educator would be able to answer all of your questions. And plus it's a fantastic course! You will leave it feeling fantastic knowing everything in depth. Give sweet squared a call u won't regret it [emoji175]

Thank you. I have tried to get onto a course but they are about a 6/8 week wait. I know a lot of people who I work with say that Shellac does peel quicker than other gel. I will get on a course and go from there. Thanks again X

If you are meticulous with your prep and application Shellac should not peel quicker than other gel lines.
I always use Brisa Bond before I apply shellac and then when I apply my first coat of colour I do one nail at a time, flash curing each. If your cuticle work is done properly, each coat caps the free edge completely, and absolutely no product is touching the skin you shouldn't have problems. I generally see my shellac clients on a 3 or 4 week schedule with little to no chipping or peeling.

I need some help too!!! Sorry to crash your thread!! But my clients are having problems with shellac lifting at the tip and I think it's due to the colour coat shrinking back the tip before I cure, I am capping the free edge carefully and even checking before I cure but it's still shrinking back?? I am doing thin coats and very careful prep, maybe I need to flash cure as you said ohsuurenails.....any help would be so much appreciated xx

Can I just check how long it takes to remove brisa bond under shellac?? Would it be the normal time? Also are you using xpress 5 or the original top coat? Thanks xxx

Thank you for your help! I have done mine today too see how I get on with them. I will try the Brisa bond but also hoping to book onto a Shellac conversion course at the end of the month, maybe that will help. I wanted to of a full Brisa course but they aren't for a few months and didn't want to leave it that long. Thanks again for you help.

Brisa Bond doesn't add any time to my removal, it just helps to prep the nails and creates a tighter bond to the nail plate. I've always stuck with the Original top coat because I prefer the slightly thicker consistency of it compared to the Express

Hi
Just interested to know, when you use the brisa bond under shellac, do you still use the shellac base coat?

Yes always, the Bria's bond just acts as a prep/primer. So I always do brisa bond (cure for about 30 seconds) then base, colour, and top coat like normal.

Excellent. Thanks for replying

Brisa Bond is not part of the Shellac system and using it may cause service break down.

It's best to stick to manufacturers instructions no matter what brand , or service you are doing. Mixing rarely causes anything other than complications.

Using Brisa bond under shellac will make its removal more difficult which may damage nails, which in turn will cause the shellac to not last as long!

Hi
Could you explain why the removal of brisa bond under shellac would be more damaging to the nail than removal of brisa bond under brisa gel?
I don't use either brisa products (just shellac) at the moment but I like to have a good understanding of how cnd products work.
Thanks

Sure :)

Brisa bond is a light cured bonding agent that adheres gel enhancements PERMANENTLY to the natural nail. Brisa Gel is ideal for clients who want to regularly maintain their nails, if a client wishes to stop wearing Brisa Gel it is buffed to a thin layer and grown off the nails.

There are many gel polishes on the market but none quite like CND Shellac. It has quick release polymers in the base coat that make it remove from the natural nail with ease once in contact with acetone. Using Brisa bond under shellac will make it more difficult to remove, and the natural nail becomes more prone to damage when soaked in acetone for long periods of time and then scrapped (Doug Schoon has an amazing article about this).

Thanks for the detailed reply. Very helpful
