Short haircuts

I have long hair midway down my back, and I am bored with it. It always ends up pulled back or up. Recently I have been considering a longer pixie style cut. I have fine hair..I am wondering if I can pull it off. How do I know if it will look good on me?

I'm not a hair pro but I had my long hair cut short in February this year. I found lots of pictures I liked and took them into my hairdresser for a consultation. She advised what would work with my face shape and hair type (also fine). She made sure I realised that I'd have to have more regular haircuts and that Id have to style it every time I washed it (when it was long I could just leave it to dry and put it up in a clip). So even though it's short now it's higher maintenance but I much prefer it. Do you have a hairdresser who's opinion and skill you trust?
