My daughter had polyhydrathingy with her daughter, she was told she was going to be a massive baby and likely to be over 10lbs (she was only born 3lb 14z herself), she had fortnightly scans and grew bigger than my sister who was carrying twins.. My daughter measured 78 all the way around at 37wks and far bigger than the 37 over the bump that she should have been.
When her waters were popped in hospital she soaked the midwives armpit due to it shooting out with force, she filled the midwives glove too and saturated her bed, the floor, and the conti sheets needed 8 changes.
We were warned the labour could be a hard one due to the amount of water, baby was back to back too ... It was a normal length build up, an hour of being 10cmandnot allowed to push to allow this massive baby to descend herself..
When her head started coming out all hell broke loose and a crash trolley, docs, specialist nurses etc were rushed in as her head was tiny, they assumed she had a medical growth condition due to her large expected weight and very tiny head!!
A teeny weeny 5lb 10oz baby shot out!!!!
Well hello massive monster, my aren't you.... Small!!!!
We were told the amount of fluid she had had distorted the scan views and messed with the measurements.
These professionals aren't always right
