Can anyone help me!

I have just done a gel course and wanted to have them on to see what it was like.
I have my first client on friday and she has never had them either so I thought best for me to remove mine - so I knew what I was talking about (when her time comes).
It took me sooooooo long!
Then, to make matters worse, I came across another technicians pricelist and she quotes 20mins for soak off - how can this be!!!!
Can anyone give me any tips in soaking off gel nails (I was told it was harder than acyrilic) - also I trimmed mine with the tip cutter thinking it would save time but it hurt me
Tania

ps. Also would love to know what others charge for rebalance, infills and soak-off.

What gel do you use sweetie because mine is a buff off!

Hi,

You must be a mind reader Tania as today i have had the same problem. I removed a set of l&p and it took me about an hour!

Please if anyone has any tips i would love to hear them!!!

I must sound so stupid but I don't really know!!! It is just standard soft uv gel form the wholesalers - is there different types........? Sorry if I am being dumb.

Oh babe, there are 2 types of Gels soak off and buff off..............

soaking off time of 20 minutes is about right, for L&P, Fibreglass and soak off gels.....
which Gel system are you using??? What is the make of the Gel ????
I charge for a soak off £20, this includes a mini manicure, this is an oil based manicure to replenish the nails....45 minute appointment...
If it is a soak off and a new set, I dont charge for the soak off.....
HTH

I use acetone on a cottonball wrapped in aluminum foil ( for acrylics) speeds up the process a bit but still takes awhile.

thanks for replies!

Mine is a buff off gel but my two of my nails actually felt a bit sore after!
Where can I get the soak off gel?
Is it is anyway inferior to the buff off gel (usually things that are easier are!!!!!)

Good tip about the foil - will try that!

Hi

i have always used a buff off gel as that is what i trained with, i have worn bio sculpture previously as a friend uses it but i found it discoloured quickly and didn't feel as hard if that makes sense.

maybe you over buffed your nails - i always leave a thin layer of gel on the natural nail too avoid damaging the nail plate

coco

Thanks for your reply - definitly think it was over-buffing!
Do you just leave a thin layer on then - is that easy to do and when it comes to using a polish over the top will it not appear bumpy???

no it is fine, i just buff them really smooth and they look fine

Hi what method do u find quickest and easist soaking off l&p in a salon?

When I had my L&P soaked off in a salon they had a gadget to heat up the acetone it was a sonic something ! That was really quick. When I do a soak off ( I work mobile) i have got a plastic soak off bowl that you fill with hot water then you put the acetone in the two dishes. I think it came from NSI . approx £10 - £12. I then drap a towel over clients hands and the say it is very comfy and warm !

Yeah Fiona (Naturalnails) on here sells those..called soak off bowls i think...priced very well too. xxx

when you say leave a thin layer of gel still on the nail... then if your having to re do the nails again... will the process of prep, then liquid bond etc... allow the new gell to adhere ok??
