I hear what you are saying and I know things change and so do guidelines, but if I train with a company and then their guidelines change, I would expect to be kept up to date with any new ideas and developments. I bet the literature still states only the first trimester to be a problem and as you say you havent been told any different and you are a trainer, but Collin is saying different in his post :?:

I haven't had a doubt about spraying anyone pregnant - up until this morning that is! I am trying as everyone else to build up my business and if spraying someone whilst pregnant COULD be a problem for WHATEVER reason then maybe we should all have Collins view and avoid doing it?

The points I made were for the benifit of those with concerns about the issue at hand (inhilation)and general precautionary proceedures to help combat those concerns.

If you are pregnant and due to the hormone changes that take place there is with out a doubt a chance that a spraytan may result in some patchyness...now that doesnt mean with every person..we are all different.

if you are spraying a pregnant customer you should always advise them of this "possibility" ...it is far better to pre warn someone than to have to explain why a tan may have gone wrong after the event...obviously if you have already sprayed a customer before without problem then there is clearly no need to do so:idea:

Now in so far as the posted question is concerned and if anyone is realy concenrd then it is quiet apropriate to offer alternative's to provide a solution to the clients need...in this case it is quiet apropriate and reasnoble to recomend that if they do not wish to proceed with a spraytan an alternative to creating a tanned leg look is with the product recomended.

In so far as the issue regarding the use of a mask..again this is just a pecautionry recomendation...if an individual is concerned about inhalation of spraytan weather pregnant or not..to make them feel at ease offer the use of a mask.

There are different considerations we should make with different scenarios..if a customer has concerns look to try and help them eleviate those concerns before proceeding..

Attitudes and methods adapt and change over many years of usage however to date we have made no such changes with the exception of further education to trainee's on how to strip down their gun for ongoing maintanance needs....at one time they were instructed never to strip down their gun:irked:

Hoping this helps

I had to spread the lurve Lyndsay:hug:

thanks for a great link xxxxx

Also technicians should check with their insurance company to see if they are covered to spray tan someone in their first trimester.

Very informative link Lyndsay.. thanks.

I cant open the link as it says it is incompatible so I'll have to wait until i'm on the main PC.

So basically I think what you are saying is that we should warn pregnant clients that there is a possibility of their tan going patchy however far gone they are and whatever pregnancy it is. maybe the 'avoid in the first trimester' should be re-written to say something along the lines of 'can go patchy tan at your own risk if pregnant'? after all, not every client would go patchy in the first trimester and it was only precautionary to state not to tan in the first trimester anyway?...

With regard to using a mask that covers nose and mouth, how would you tan the face?

As for eleviating the clients concerns before proceeding, how are we supposed to do that if we ourselves can't be sure that the tan won't be patchy even in later pregnancy?

I won't worry about checking my insurance as I dont spray in the first trimester anyway.

Hi Sherrie (& anyone else its of use to)

I've attached the doc as a pdf, which is how it was on the link anyway, so it may not help!:smack:

If not, all you need to do is load Acrobat, which is free from many trusted sources xx

You can spray a pregnant woman after 3 months but not before because the tan can go patchy due to hormones, but it isnt harmful in anyway to the unborn child .
