why not start with some simple paint designs, small acrylic paints like the kids use and just buy some cheap nail art brushes from sallys and experiment with waht the differen brushes can do, once you have the feel for the brush you will be off and running.

have to say though i love striping brushes.lol

I'm not sure, that sounds complicated! thought stickers would be easier!!

Hi louisa, i just got my stickers toaday and had a play and i can honestly say they look fab. I just picked them of the sticky paper with tweezers and stuck then down on to the nail then apllied top coat. very easy and im a beginner too. Have a look on their site it shows you loads of ideas too.

Sounds good, I'll give them a whirl!

The ones i used are the butterflies and dragonflies, and they look great on my nails.

Cor girls that is a brgain i would grab that while you can, flexibrush stripers are excellent for doing flicks and things

How hard is it Lucia, I've never even watched anyone do nail art yet. I might wait til Earls court when I can watch demos.

flicks are really easy with a striper brush you lay the brush down and just pull upwards nd viola a nice flicky line. Gemstone in the corner, lovely. striper tape you just lay it on the nail and trim the edge in line with teh free edge do two like a triangle shape and fill with glitter striper. Use teh cuticle sticks for picking up the gemstones you just wet teh end and touch the stone and it picks up. Nail art sealer to stop it ll moving or you can use foil adhesive to stick in place.

Ok, well I think for nail art basics as Lucia said, you need a striping brush... for your flicks... easy peasy!
A dotting tool for dots and flowers, and of course some fabby rhinestones!!!
Striping tape is also effective and easy to apply.
Claire's offer (Jordi) sounds a really good deal to me and for that kind of money I would def take her up on it.
The Nailtopia stickers are fab also... the lace can be fiddley if your a first timer... flowers are easier.
Nailtopia will also be available in Sally's from sept.

Sounds good, I'm getting excited now.

The offer's open to anybody guys, not just beginners!!

Maybe some of your students may be interested Glo after you've worked your magic with them!

http://www.atyourfingertips.org.uk/ this is a good site to try for all your nail arty bits. sue does everything on here and she is always buying, so you need to keep your eyes peeled.

As with everything tho, nail art takes time and practice. Dont think you need to do uber fancy designes, sometimes simple is best! have a look at some of the stuff on here to get ideas and simplify them.

Good Luck!
