Hey! Just joined I'm currently a very bored gp receptionist wanting a big change in life!.. always done my own gel nails and friend, family etc. Which I really enjoy. Also done basic learning in college through school. Sorry I'm going on too much my question is.. I want to be properly qualified so thinking of doing manicure nq then acrylics evening course while still in my job (can't afford to just quit) then doing nails at night and weekends then next year go and do full time nail technician course at college... looking for some advice Finding it hard to do it without quitting my job completely.

You can do it without quitting your job. I work in medicine and I’ve trained in nails recently which I do on the side. Get a manicure qualification and build on that, I did a vtct level 2 in mani/pedi. That’s the basic foundation you need to start. Some colleges will offer evening or weekends. Then you could do acrylics after, I followed with acrylics and gel after. Then just slowly build up your client base, once you start getting established you could start cutting your hours down down x

You can do a home learning course I did and now I am a home based nail tech I love being home as I can do my housework between clients my washing cooking and looking after my husband who is ill. I went to essential nails and I do think it needs updating but you learn what you need to know and you can pay over 6 months. If you need any more info or help. Email me at [email protected] good luck. X
